At Home Testing for STIs (Review)

Image
In November, I became sexually active again and within that time I got two UTIs. I've spoken about my UTI symptoms previously but because of that, it defintely put the seed of doubt in my head and I wanted to ensure that I wasn't or didn't have an sexually transmitted infection. I know it's rare so unlikely to be related, even the A+E doctor said as much, but it was still something tugging at the back of my mind.  I asked my first partner to do an STI test before we got together, as he was my first sexual partner but he had been with 2 other women. I was really hurt when he said no and refused to do one but I guess I trusted him and so went on with life. After we broke up, I did an STI check and it came back negative. I then had a second STI check in A+E when I got admitted with pneumonia, so this would be the third, but my first at home test.  I ordered a kit through the NHS website. You can only order if you have no symptoms, which when I ordered it, I didn't hav...

Hairspray the Musical (Review)

Image
I went to see Hairspray the Musical last year when it was on it's UK Tour in Nottingham. I'm a little late in sharing my review as I had all my USA and Canada 2024 travel posts to share, but it's still on tour until the end of April 2025 so if you're interested, have a look at some of the dates here . They still include Scotland, Ireland and England locations.  The story follows teenage Tracy Turnblad's dream to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program. When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight, leading to social change as Tracy campaigns for the show's integration. The songs include 1960s-style dance music and "downtown" rhythm and blues.  I love that the casting was diverse. Whilst, yes that is the story, I'm glad they stay true to that and didn't pick celebrities or different cultures. They made sure to keep it diverse with plus sized cast members and ethnicities of relevance, ensuring the need fo...

My Boudoir Photoshoot Experience - Part 1 (Review)

Image
I always loved the idea of doing a boudoir photoshoot, mainly for my own self-love but I'd originally planned to make and create a book to give to my groom on our wedding day as a present. Unfortunately, when we broke up, I knew that wasn't going to be the case, so instead I decided to do it for my 30th birthday...or at least that was the plan. Last summer, I seemingly entered a competition to win one and I apparently won. The company said they'd been trying to reach me for months, so when they finally got in touch in December, I decided to get it booked in as soon as possible so I didn't loose the courage in the build up. To be honest, I was shocked they had availability before Christmas, so I ended up booking it with about a week to go.  I won a free photoshoot experience which included a welcome drink on arrival, makeover including hair with a makeup artist, the photoshoot with a female photographer, afternoon tea and image viewing. The whole experience, I was advise...

Chinese Craving, Welsh Birthday and Botanist Roast!

Image
After a heavy work week, I had a lovely break in Wales to celebrate my dad's birthday!  Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  After a busy few days of work, I actually felt really positive. I had 2 office days at work but apart from that, I had a 10 day break off clinical work, and I kind of needed it after working a solid few weeks of shifts.  I tried curling my hair for the first time since having it cut and it made me laugh so much. It honestly looked absolutely hilarious and I had no idea how I they would turn out in the morning.  My first office day was for my Sessional Professional Midwifery Advocate day and I actually did a Birth Reflection appointment the week before, so I spent the day writing up that and being involved in a project regarding handovers. My second office day was for Shared Governance and it was actually quite productive. It was nice not to HAVE to do work in my own time for once and to finish it all on site.  Afterwards, I headed t...
