Busy and Exciting Month Ahead

Image
I've taken the last couple of weeks off to concentrate on finishing my Master's dissertation and in all honesty, myself, but I am now back. My deadline for completion is tomorrow so I will be back to writing and sharing very soon. I actually haven't written a blog post for quite a while, but I plan to bulk wrote a lot, then schedule them all in advance. I will be back in a couple of weeks after the last few big events have passed.  I can't wait to share everything that has been going on in life and future family and travel plans. I also have some exciting new series ideas and I'm ready to refocus on my Hannah's Lips UK business, as well as hopefully get back into Hypnobirthing, in the coming months, now I have a bit more flexibility again. For now, I'm just excited to be done for university for a while and in my head, have some downtime back. However, I looked at my schedule for August and I have a grand total of 2 days without plans. 2 days!? I am absolutel...

Heart-breaking Reality, Unfortunate Musical and Yorkshire Show!

Image
After a difficult an emotional end of June, my July annual leave started off as more of the same but I kept busy at the Great Yorkshire Show! Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  I've been very open and honest about my mental health over the last couple of years and the last few months have been better overall, but June just hit me full on again as it came to a lot of milestones and memories and honestly, I just miss my best friend. It's even harder when they want absolutely nothing to do with you, not even a note to say hey.  On top of that, I also had my ever looming dissertation due and that was really beginning to take it's toll on me as I had almost 3 weeks where I didn't leave the house other than to go to my "day job" work and even then, I would be thinking about my dissertation. I was really happy with how it was going just before my annual leave, when I got a whole lot of negative feedback which just took it out of me again, and I'll share ...

Swimming Costume Haul!

Image
I've shared a few posts over the years of swimming costumes , so I'm back with another . I've never felt more self-conscious and there's days I can't even bring myself to get dressed because I know I won't feel comfortable in anything, so why bother getting out of pyjamas. My ex-boyfriend never called me sexy and he referred to my weight on a number of occasions. I know I am overweight, so I really don't need someone I love to make remarks on the topic as well, when he should be the one building me. I've since had people compliment me repeatedly and give me more confidence in a few sentences, than I have had in years. I'm trying really hard to embrace my body for what it is, without being too hard on myself because right now unfortunately, my priority in life is currently my mental health.  Despite all that, I am going to America in just a few short months, so I wanted to buy some new costumes to take with me, as well as a new costume for the gym. Th...

Wedding and Hen Party Series!

Image
This year has defintely been a year of hen parties and weddings and whilst I usually have one a year, this year has been full on and crazy busy.  Since vlogging and blogging, I have had:  Mum's casino hen party and  wedding in 2018 Archery bestie's got married in 2022 My cousin  got married during Covid-19 lockdown and then had her  hen party in Oxford  the year after Godbrother's  tepee wedding last year  University colleague earlier this year and my first winter wedding  This year, I have another 5 weddings to go and have had a couple of their hen parties already. My two closest in age cousins (Ellie and Ellie) have their weddings in July and August. They had their  hen parties  in Leeds for one day and York for a long weekend respectively. Two of my high school friends are getting married, Maria in July and Alice in December, then my cousin's brother in law who supposedly becomes my brother in law (Sikh families) is getting ma...

My First Re-Mortgage Experience

Image
I've been well and truly dreading the day I have to re-mortgage my house, especially with the interest rates. I know they've been coming down, but they're still so much higher than they were and what they should be. I got my original mortgage at an interest rate of 2.15% and even that was originally meant to be 1.96% as it cheekily increased by the time the paperwork went through.  It also brings up so many sad memories and so many tainted ones. I originally went for a two-year fixed rate mortgage because I genuinely thought that by the end of the 2 years, I would be getting a mortgage with my now-husband. Turns out, we never even moved in together and it breaks my heart to know how happy I was the last time I was doing this process.  I was a little confused about the whole process and really hoped I could just re-mortgage with my current provider which would be so much easier as it would just be a "rate adjustment", but given that I've spend £10,000 on the h...

Dissertation Diary (Part 2)

Image
2 weeks further down the track and here's some updates on the dissertation, following on from part 1 !  Monday 18th June  My birthday weekend was a lovely long break and a great distraction. I ended up having a super long, unusual lie in so I didn't wake up until 1pm and by the time I finished the last half of the film, packed, loaded the car and drove back to Nottingham in the horrible traffic, I didn't get home until gone 6pm and I was exhausted. Instead of doing dissertation work, I spent a few hours cleaning, tidying, unpacking and doing life admin to catch up on some bits. Tomorrow I am going to have to be back at it, because I have four long shifts this week so not much time! As much as I would love to write Chapter 4, due to the sporadic spare time, this week's goal is to finish the second draft of Chapter 3 and then try to cut it down further to loose some of the 5000 words over I need to get rid of. I will then send this to my supervisor for feedback on certain...

The Challenge: Two Alphas, One Girl by Joanne J (Review) + "Reading Apps"

Image
Another week, another app for reading, this time one called Dreame and it was more of an audiobook, although started as a video as well. I actually much preferred this app, but defintely undownloaded it very quickly once I finished the book. Once again, it releases chapters one by one, but with this app you can do tasks to gain coins to release them sooner so it doesn't take quite as long, and therefore I read it in just a couple of weeks.  " Friday is born a she-wolf but her eighteenth birthday passes without her phasing, officially making her wolf-less. The Alpha of the Marigold Wolf Pack, Maze, is her fated mate but he rejects her for being a wolf-less she-wolf. The Pack treats her like the scum of the earth. She is not even allowed to attend the Peace Treaty Celebration where the Alpha of the Berryndale Pack, a more powerful Aly, visits. In a twist of fate, visiting Alpha Thaddeus lays his eyes on her and realises she is his mate. Friday has been given a second chance mate...

My Earnings as a Midwife

Image
The past 4 financial years, I have been working as a Qualified Midwife. I always find it interesting to know how much people make, earn, spend on things and general cost. I don't understand why people are so secretive about finances and I think it should be a social norm to be more open and honest. I thought it would be interesting to compare my earnings since working as a midwife over the years.  So I qualified as a midwife in January 2021. I started the first week of work as a Band 3 Pre-Pin Midwife whilst waiting for my Pin number to come through and then worked as a Band 5 until the end of the financial year, working full time hours of 37.5 hours. For that period I earnt, £5897.58 .  The next year, I was again working full-time at 37.5 hours a week, with the majority paid as a Band 5. I got my Band 6 towards the end of February so just less than 2 months were Band 6 pay. For that year, I earnt £34,841.65 . At that point, Band 5 basic pay was  £25,655 and Band 6 basic...
