Not Celebrating Halloween this Year?

Image
Happy Halloween!  I know I usually go all out for Halloween and I honestly thought that this year would be no different. I usually dress up and for the last few years I've also thrown a Halloween party, whether that me small or large . I love to decorate and celebrate in the lead up and I cannot even begin to explain how excited I was to do the same this year, especially with it being the first not only Halloween, but also first holiday, in my own home. Sadly, it hasn't quite been the case.  First of all, with everything going on with the house renovations and moving in, I haven't wanted to have too many people over, mainly cause some things were still a little up in the air and the utility room is a disaster. I think because of that I just haven't felt in the spooky spirit. I would normally go pumpkin picking , carve pumpkins, make a spooky bake , dress up and of course decorate .  I didn't want to really decorate until my second sofa was delivered. I would usually

My house is a 3 bedroom semi-detached property and although all the bedrooms are double rooms, and all good sizes, for now, I am having the smallest room as a study. I think eventually it will be made into a nursery one day, and the desk will potentially be moved to the hallway, but that's a few years away for now.  This room is probably one of the rooms that caused me a surprising amount of stress, considering it was suppose to be an easy project. It all started with the panelling. I had a vision to have panelling in the bedroom, but when I selected my wardrobe, I knew it would look a little too much so I thought the simple panelling style in the study would be perfect. I shared the entire how to and experience of panelling on Wednesday so be sure to read that for all the details.  Once that was done and painted, it became very obvious that the floor wasn't ideal. The wooden flooring was already in when I bought the house, however it was unfortunately poorly fitted with large

How to: Basic Wall Panelling

Image
I think the biggest interior trend of 2022 is wall panelling. There are so many different types and different ways it can be done and I fell in love with it a long time ago, so I knew I wanted to incorporate it into my new house somewhere. I was originally wanting it in the spare bedroom, but because of my bed I didn't think it would look right next to each other. I then thought I could put it in the master bedroom, but I was already having the furniture in panelling so I decided to put it in the office. I looked at all the options and decided keep it fairly simple with just the basic board panelling.  I started by measuring the space. I felt the easiest and best looking would be to split it into four, with 5 panels. I then measured the length of the wall as well. I also decided to make the lengths 10cm in width for ease. I decided to get the medium thickness MDF available at B+Q and whilst there, also got them to cut the lengths. Unfortunately, due to their machine, although I'

The spare bedroom - or pink room! - was probably the quickest and easiest to put together, but it became my dressing room so it’s just been put back together. It is basically the same room as my previous master bedroom , with a fresher look. I knew I wanted to keep the furniture I already owned, but at the same time, wanted my master bedroom to have a new look, so I decided to transfer it to the spare bedroom instead.  A lot of people ask me if I love pink and I honestly don't. I don't hate the colour - obviously - but it's not one of my favourites. When my mum was renovating my room at her house because of a huge bathroom leak, I fell in love with a particular wall paper and based the room around that. My mum wasn't going to pay for additional accessories so I bought my own. The order ended up getting lost in transit, so after 3 weeks (it was meant to be next day delivery), they resent the order. Magically, 2 weeks later, the original order arrived! As it was basicall

Surprising Grandma, Puppies Attack and Bumble Dates!

Image
I headed to Wakefield for the weekend, celebrated with family and even had a couple of first dates!  Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  After picking up where the last vlog ended, I got dressed and ready for the afternoon to head to Wakefield. It was so lovely on the drive up and seeing all the fall leaf colours starting to come out was beautiful. In Nottingham, everything still seems so green! I'd forgotten that my mum was away at the weekend, so instead I surprised my Grandma, who was asleep in the conservatory, then went searching for the puppies who ran at me with all the cuddles. It also turned out to be Floki's first birthday! Unlike our previous dogs who weren't allowed in the house really, these dogs are so spoilt and allowed truly everywhere. I still can't believe it myself but it's fun to watch. Jess and I had a chilled afternoon and evening. We watched the entire series of Uncoupled, enjoyed a Chinese takeaway and then relaxed in the hot tub.  Th

My master bedroom has been the most expensive room to complete and I am still a little in shock that I decided to spend so much money, but I truly do think it is worth it. In the blog post from Monday, I went into a little more detail but basically, the original plan was to buy IKEA PAX storage units and build them in. I had obviously planned on this room being a room for both myself and Luke (my now ex-boyfriend). I knew we needed storage for two, but I also wanted beauty and simplicity, without being two feminine. I quickly fell in love with the colour green and after seeing the decor pieces which I already owned, I decided to go for gold accents. Other than that, the room was basically free to design as I pleased as I had no other furniture already. I painted just the wall the bed was against a deep forest green.  After looking into companies to build in the IKEA PAX units, because I knew I wouldn't be able to do it myself, I decided that it was almost just as much to go through

Silk Pillowcase (Review)

Image
I have talked about the benefits of silk pillowcases multiple times over the years and although I love the thought of them, I haven't fallen in love with the use of a brand just yet. Well, I was recently gifted these simple white silk pillowcases  from the ever imaginative Calidad Home company. I was gifted this set in exchange for an honest review and simply put, I love them!  The package is simple and basic, this isn't a luxury company but it makes them affordable and a great option for those wanting to try silk pillowcases for the first time. Each pillowcase came in a little plastic sachet, wrapped in tissue paper. I also love that it came with an easy to read care guide. They have a few different options and I chose the 22 Momme Silk option in white. I chose white so that I could then alternate the bedding set, without it not being able to match. I did consider the green or grey option but played it safe, so that variations in colour didn't clash!  In comparison with
