Painting Garden Fences for the First Time

Image
The project that I didn’t think would be too difficult was painting the garden fences. My mum and cousin offered to help, which was super helpful. They came down around lunch time, we went to a lovely Chinese for brunch and then headed back to the house. They ended up only painting for about 3 hours, with interruptions from a dog and baby, but it was such a lovely and fun afternoon hanging out together. I then spent every day for the next week trying to paint them before the patio and driveway were cleaned. I got them all completed just in time, bar half the gate and the four panels at the end of the astroturf which didn’t need to be rushed. It took a lot longer than I expected to paint the fence panels, but I am very pleased with the end result. I ended up choosing a B+Q paint Cuprinol Ducksback called Silver Copse for a dark grey shade.  I then had some different shades of concrete, wall and painted aspects so I wanted to paint them all the same colour in a Jasmine White. This was a

Stackers: Handbag (Review)

Image
After Stackers  launched so many beautiful products, they started to release bags. I have wanted to treat myself to their Garment bag for years and just when I was about to buy it, I realised that I really wanted to purchase it in partnership with my now ex-boyfriend. I had this vision of us matching on overnight stays and short city breaks. Instead, I decided to get their handbag instead. I loved the look of it and thought that it would be perfect with all the compartments, but also it had a small clothing section at the bottom.  Described as having a place for everything, this faux leather handbag features multiple internal compartments including a padded quilted laptop sleeve, two elasticated side pockets, a space for your phone, 2 internal drinks pockets, as well as a zipped pocket. The base has a large zipped compartment with a removal drawstring pouch. Plus, the bag has both handles and a removable shoulder strap. It can be fitted over suitcase handles and has protective studs on

Submitting my Second Masters Assessment "Facilitating Complex Childbirth"

Image
The assessment for "Facilitating Complex Childbirth" was unlike any I had done before. It was previously a presentation, but with distance learning they changed it to be a recorded, verbally annotated 25 minute PowerPoint presentation. It was a little difficult to first understand, but then I actually really enjoyed it and much preferred it to normal presentations which can be quite nervewracking. The presentation was on the care of a woman with any complexity or condition found in pregnancy, with a plan for her care.  I chose to do Obstetric Cholestasis. It's a topic that's been a little close to my heart for a number of years. My sister had it with her pregnancy, and I feel like it's a topic that is very rarely acknowledged. I also wanted to do it on a subject that hadn't been overdone in previous years and wasn't being done already.  The goal of the presentation was to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the complexity, with physiology, pathophys

Garden Playtime, Driveway Makeover and Nottingham Tennis!

Some more big garden improvements and more family time at the Nottingham Open Tennis Championships.  Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  I had my last shift before 2 weeks annual leave which I was very much looking forward to. My sister and niece came to visit me in Nottingham. It was just for the day, but it was so lovely to see them and have them in my home, to show them around and share the space I'm trying to make a home.  We ended up heading to West Bridgford, where we had a lovely afternoon tea style lunch as a little cafe, and then went to a park for a little walk and to play. It was very hot, so we didn't stay too long before heading back to the house but it was lovely to just play in the garden now that it's feeling pretty and put together. We had a paddling pool, sunbathing, balls and bubbles. It was so much fun and I was so sad to see them both go.  I've been so excited to have exterior cleaned and I cannot wait to share the final results. I think I&#

Patch: Plant Delivery (Review)

Image
I recently celebrated my 27th birthday and I will share my present haul very soon, but when I got back home from my travels, I was very exciting to be welcomed by a very unexpected, big box from  Patch . My best friend bought me a lovely present and it was such a great gift, I couldn't wait to share a full review of it.  Patch helps you discover the best plants for your space, delivers them to your door and helps you look after them. They pride themselves on unbeatable quality, sourced directly from top-rated growers, delivered directly to your door. Plus, send a free plant-parenting course with every order and have plant doctors always on call. I received the order in the most beautiful and secure packaging. It was a big cardboard box, with the plant pot and plant secured so it wouldn't move inside the package. The pot was wrapped in recyclable paper, then further cardboard around the plant. It felt very safe and didn't feel as though any damage would occur.  The instructi

Skin + Me: Daily Defence Sunscreen (Review)

Image
It's been a while since I shared a post on Skin + Me , but with the launch of their newly released sunscreen product, I thought it was the perfect time to share the love again. As a reminder, Skin + Me is a company which provides scientifically-proven, prescription strength based on your unique, personal skincare needs. Their signature product is their Daily Doser , which is a monthly delivery straight to your house, releasing the perfect amount of product for each application.  Last month they launched a  sunscreen which couldn't have come at a better time, given the incredible heatwave we've been having in the UK. I have been using it almost daily and I absolutely love it! Once again, it's designed by dermatologists, protects skin from UVA and UVB rays and contains SPF 50. As with their other products, the sunscreen packaging is made from recyclable aluminium and card from FSC registered forests. This ensures it is sustainable, whilst also allowing every drop be to be

My Second Masters Module "Facilitating Complex Childbirth"

Image
The second module for my master's course was the next compulsory module, " Facilitating Complex Childbirth ". I shared my thoughts prior to starting and I was so excited. I have to say, I am really impressed and have been throughout the whole course. Each week was a new topic, which allowed in depth exploration of subjects that I haven't particularly covered before. I think as a clinical midwife, I do now appreciate them more as I can relate it to experiences in reality and picture the presentations.  The content was released in advance so I was able to do two week's worth at a time which was really good for me, as I went away or had plans or some of the week's. I really love the flexibility that comes with further education.  I also managed to get flexible working approved at work which means I now have every Wednesday off. It made such a difference to be able to attend the live sessions each week. It was great to be able to interact with the module leads and

A productive and busy family help out type week!  Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  I beautiful family I looked after the week before, brought in a lovely card and bouquet of flowers to say thank you. It was perfect and so beautiful. I always love having fresh flowers in the house and these were perfect for the kitchen.  I also treated myself to some bakery goods. Wollaton Bakes is a newly opened bakery that is on the way back from my cousin's house. They have been advertising all over social media and sharing their goods, which of course has made me crave them. I finally got around to visiting at the very end of their opening week and treated myself to a few of their options. I got a chocolate cupcake, two brownies (aero and biscoff) and a biscoff cookie pie. The cookie pie was dreamy. I would like one every week to be honest and I was very impressed that it lasted me 3 desserts and the price was super reasonable. The biscoff brownie was nice but I was a little disappoin
