Easter Break!

Image
For the first time since I started blogging properly, I've decided to take a week's break from posting on here for the whole of next week. I will be back on the 2nd April with my normal Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule and I hope I'll have some of the posts written up so that I don't get behind again. In the meantime, I've set up brand new social media accounts for my blog as I've decided to make my personal social media accounts private. For those of my family and friends that follow me, I'm sure they will appreciate the division. Be sure to follow me on Instagram , Facebook , Twitter , YouTube and Pinterest ! Also, Happy Easter. I hope you all have a great holiday and enjoy the bank holidays (if you're not working like me!).

How to Balance Working Full Time and Blogging!

Image
You've probably noticed over the last couple of months that the blog posts haven't quite been going up on time and that's because I've started my new university course. Today I have a fellow student sharing her top tips on how to balance working full-time (or university) and running a blog at the same time. It's amazing how many people make a living off blogging, so it's easy to forget how many more people do this on the side. I'm just one of many so I'm sure this post will help a lot of people. Katie from Just Katiee is a 24 year old event manager from the UK and has been blogging since 2014. Her blog focuses on all aspects of life, with bits of beauty, fashion, travel and home thrown in. She sounds very similar to me, so if you're even remotely intrigued, go check our her website and say hi! Katie started her blog during her placement year of university. She was working full-time, didn't post regularly and never really found a routine th

Late Snow in March and Redecorating!

Image
We've had so much snow this March and it's crazy! I also headed home and was surprised with a house makeover.  Click here to see the vlog or watch below.  One of my 'honourary' flatmates brought a bunch of her board games from home and crazily, we've all been addicted to scrabble. I love how the boards look at the end and we ended up using all the letters on our second game. I'm absolutely terrible. I need to learn not to go with the first three letter word I come up with. LOL! I still can't wait believe how much snow we've had over the past couple of weeks. I hate snow but my flatmates, especially Sam, were super excited. Having now done half of my placement, it feels so nice to wear normal clothes at the weekend and of course, a nice bold lip. It's crazy how much I've missed the darker colours and I'm so happy to take advantage of them in my downtime. I also braved the washing machines for the first time. I've been he

I'm Being Vulnerable...

Image
"I’ve never been someone who has been jealous of others or felt completely insecure in themselves. I’ve never felt so self-conscious about what’s on the inside of me. I’ve always hated my body, my tummy, my skin but never my personality. I actually pride myself on being a sweet, thoughtful and loving individual. These last few months have been so hard. I’ve been called a liar, I’ve been talked about behind my back and I’ve been told I shouldn’t feel things that I do. Well enough is enough. Crying tears over and over again over these feelings is painful. It’s a judgement that disgusts me and upsets me more than words can say. Have you ever felt so hurt you could barely talk? That’s where I am right now and I can’t do this anymore." Life is hard sometimes and let's be honest, everyone goes through ups and downs. Not everyone is public with them and social media is disappointingly, often a place where we as human beings share a picture perfect version of their live

How to Overcome Being Poorly!

Image
We are finally getting to the end of flu season and I am so thankful. While I've never had the flu, I've had pretty bad colds and it's the absolute worst...right?! Today Rachel from RachyReviews  is guest posting here and sharing some amazing tips to hopefully help you through this journey to overcome the bogged-down sticky patch and speed up the process of being poorly. You know, the runny eyes, sore throat, tap-like nose, the inability to breathe due to constant coughing and spurting, and just feel so incredibly unlike you that you start to get yourself into some kind of funk, which admittedly is hard to get out of as you no longer recognise the person that is staring back at you when you look in the mirror, and just genuinely don't know where to put yourself. Every spare minute that you once had is now spent under the covers and your favourite drinks are swapped for an ‘exotic’ variety of medicinal ones. When you're feeling this way then it's very easy ju

Major Hair Cut and Annual Rhubarb Ball!

Image
The Annual Rhubarb Ball came round again. The year goes fast, the night even faster but these are the memories I will forever remember. Oh and I also got a major hair cut! What do you think?  Click here for the vlog or see below.  So with my new placement about to start I decided to cut my hair. I love my hair so it's always a little hard to see it go but nevertheless, I love my new hair length. It's defintely not the shortest it's been but so far, I love it! What do you think? The Annual Rhubarb Ball started out terribly. We were so short of tables it was actually ridiculous. I love having these memories to look back on though and having a vlog of  2017 's is just amazing! Considering how many people we had attended this year, it was a shame we didn't get many food entries into the competition. Usually there are a lot more but this year, there were very few. And only one children's entry! Once I'd finished my job as a steward, I went up

Women are Great!

Image
With International Women's Day and Mother's Day falling in the same week this year, I thought it would only be appropriate to share a simple post thanking and celebrating all the amazing women in the world. International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year. It is a focal point the movement for women's rights. Mother's Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May but here in the UK it is on the 2nd Sunday of March, aka this Sunday! For once, I'm actually not going to be spending the day with my mum because it just falls smack bang in the middle of a crazy week and I can't get there but last year I had a blast surprising her at home. So here's the all the women, especially to the mum's. To the women who came before us, the women who w

Collaborations to Grow my Blog!

Image
I love working with other like-minded individuals and especially in the blogging world, collaborations are a great opportunity to not only create new friendships but also to grow your blog. One of the big hurdles to overcome as a blogger is getting your name and link out there. To do that, it's a long process but it can be improved if you get another site to share your link. This increases your Domain Authority (DA) which is a massive step into getting businesses and companies to work with you. Often it's the number they ask for the most as it shows people are reading and sharing your content. As a guideline, if you have a DA of 30 or more, you can usually qualify for most opportunities. I've found writing on other people's blogs has really helped me drive traffic to my own site. When you guest post on someone's site, they place your links in the article as well so it introduces it to a new audience and increases engagement, as well as your audience. Well place

Lunch Dates, Bowling and Mini Golf!

Image
To celebrate the end of my essay, I celebrated with a lovely lunch out, followed my a week of friends and activities! So much fun! Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  As soon as I submitted the essay, I went a little hyper and so Sam and I stayed up chatting until the early hours of Sunday morning. We planned to go and celebrate the next day so I went to bed happy and woke up early, ready for a yummy meal at Zizzi's and then ice skating afterwards.   Zizzi's was super yummy. I loved my pizza and we both got the same dessert, a scrumptious, almost sicken-ly sweet decadent brownie to finish. We had a slight change of plans in the evening. Originally we were going to go ice skating in the afternoon but Sam wanted to be back to welcome the girls home. Everyone decided they wanted to go to the cinema and so I was more than happy. In the end, that fell through as well so we just had a chilled catch up in the kitchen. A short week at university before all s
