Pretty Little Home: August Subscription Box (Review)

Image
This month, I finally allowed myself to be treated to a beautiful home decor subscription box from Pretty Little Home. I've seen so many of these boxes over this last year and I am always so jealous when I finally see the product reveal but it's too late for me to purchase. I thought with Autumn right around the corner, it was the perfect month to start to subscription and I just hoped I liked the products.  In all honesty, I was expecting to re-gift some of the products which I thought would be great for house warming and Christmas presents. The box arrived right on time, on the date expected and was securely packaged. Each item was individually wrapped and it felt great to have so many little presents to open.  The selection of products was beautiful and I really was so happy to be able to open them. The candles were the only product I probably will re-gift but that's because I don't really like candles in general.  The first item I am so excited about it a little gla

"Professional Midwifery Advocate Preparation" (Part 1) Assessment Result

Image
I submitted the first part of my assessment for the PMA module a couple of months ago and I actually already have the result back. It came back a lot quicker than expected, but randomly arrived in my inbox. I can't lie, I'm once again a little disappointed in the mark but also confused. I got 55%, which in itself is my lowest mark of the module so far and it is far from my 70% goal which is hard.  The most difficult aspect is that the feedback was actually really positive, whereas previous assessments have been quite critiquing and provided criticism with ways to improve, this one has given me nothing. Repeatedly, the marker writes positively, summarising: "Thank you for submitting this interesting assessment. Please see intext comments and attached feedback. You have met the learning outcomes. Well done."

Auntie Babysitting, Decor Unboxing and Travel Wall!

I had the loveliest week with my almost all my nieces and nephews, plus had some decor updates around the house!  Click  here  to watch the vlog or see below. There is also a bonus video of the kids, which if you know me personally you can see  here .  After spending the first half of the week with my two oldest nieces and nephews , I then spent the end of the week with my littlest nephew. It was almost the perfect week. My cousin had a work training course, so she came over for a little while beforehand to help with hanging some decor, however her son wasn't having any of it, so instead we just talked and played.  She left around 12.30pm and then it was just the two of us for the first time ever and I had an absolute blast. First of all, we ate lunch. He'd had a few snacks prior, but then ate about half his ham and cheese toastie, all his banana and some little melt sticks. Then we played for about 20 minutes, before having a bottle. I'd made up 120mls, but he only took 30

Oiling my New Interior Doors

Image
If you didn't know, I got new doors fitted back in March time. I can't even begin to explain how happy they have made me and instead of having mismatched, uneven and un-closable doors, I now have 5 matching downstairs doors in Oak which look truly beautiful. Looking back on how my utility room used to look shows the reality of the improvements made to my home and the difference is stark.  I realised I never actually shared a true picture of my doors so I thought I would share the natural finish and the oiled finish. I did quite like the natural wood finish, with the lighter colouring but I was recommended to oil them by the joiner to protect the wood itself.  After reading a number of reviews, I chose the Osmo Door Oil . I got the 1L size, but for 5 doors, I probably should have bought the 2L as it didn't quite manage 2 full layers. I bought the Osmo Brush to apply it and it went on very smoothly and successfully. In terms of prepping the doors, all I did was wipe them do

Bloom + Wild: August 2023 (Review)

Image
August brings another letterbox flower delivery from Bloom + Wild . This month's bouquet was a little different. I wanted something that was a little unusual, but also beautiful and would last because this month is to celebrate me moving into the house 1 year ago! I chose to get The Cass this month and it was just lovely.  In the delivery, there are 16 stems including lilac, pink and coral gladioli and statice. Gladioli, unlike most other flowers, bloom from the bottom up and take 3 to 4 days to burst into life. They're specifically British-grown, however they totally make it feel like a tropical paradise with the vibrant corals and salmony pink!  This was well and truly a month of waiting for the stems to bloom. They originally came very lackluster and green, with no flowers on. I waited patiently and the next week they were beautiful. I had to switch vases because they bloomed so big and they were hurting each other!  As always, if you want to get yourself a beautiful bouquet

Submitting my Third Master's Module Assessment "Professional Midwifery Advocate Preparation" (Part 1)

Image
This module's assessment was split into two, with a workbook and essay required to pass the module and gain the qualification. I didn't think it was going to be hard to do either however when I sat down to look at the workbook, it was a lot of extra work that I hadn't anticipated. I plan to go into a lot more detail in a couple of months, but I essentially had a conversation with the module lead and successfully secured an extension so I have until the end of October.  The other part of the assessment was an essay covering "A Reflection of a Restorative Clinical Supervision", as well as a number of learning outcomes associated. These were:  Demonstrate a clear understanding of the A-EQUIP model and critically analyse the role of a Professional Midwifery Advocate in relation to midwifery practice Critically evaluate the ethical, legal and professional issues that impact upon maternity care and discuss how the provision on clinical supervision can support midwives i

Bowling Fun, Wildlife Park and Cousin Party!

Image
I headed to my oldest sister's house to look after my niece and nephew for a few days, then celebrated being in my house for 1 whole year with a belated house warming party!  Click here to watch the vlog or see below. There is also a bonus video of the kids, which if you know me personally you can see here .  My sister and her husband were both working for the week, with no one to look after the kids. I'm sure they would have been fine playing around the house, especially as the kids love being on their iPads, Switch and watching TV. Plus, they both work from home. I wanted to see them all and I also happened to have a few days off mid-week so I managed to get down and look after them for a few days.  I had a study day on Monday, so headed down straight after. I had a lovely big cuddle from my Bop, before we cuddled and talked and then headed to bed. The next day, we played in the lounge before heading out for lunch. We were going to Prezzo but ended up going to Ask and it was
