Back to Reality, Family BBQ and Swimming Fun!

Image
I spent some time with family at a BBQ and a swimming pool party! Click here to watch the vlog or see it below. My mum loves celebrating and hosting parties. As much as she'll say she get's stressed and hates the pressure, she loves socialising, being surrounded by friends and family and having fun. Sometimes we do it for my birthday and sometimes we do it slightly later. This year we did it just after I got back to Croatia. It was a beautiful day so I wore one of my favourite summer dresses. The food was delicious. It was so nice to catch up with friends and family, and of course, celebrate my cousins engagement! As I was only back for a short week, I wanted to see as many people as possible! I went to Pugney's for a walk and to meet up with Maria. We enjoyed a gentle stroll before having an ice lolly and enjoying the sweaty summer heat. It was seriously beautiful weather and my mum's cousins children have been absolutely begging me to go see them and

Sharing the First Journal on Self-Love!

Image
As the new President of the Nursing and Midwifery Association at the University of Nottingham, my first big project that I wanted to get underway was an NMA Journal. In July, after a lot of time, energy and effort, the first edition was published - albeit a little later than expected. Well I was so proud of it and so overjoyed by the results I figured that I might as well also share it here with all you. It is an online, public journal however it is written purely by University of Nottingham student nurses and midwives. It was definitely a journey getting it to publication but I genuinely loved every minute. It was my little passion project and I was so glad the rest of the committee was behind me in getting it to where it needed to be. The first edition was all about Self-Love as a Student on Placement . It shared ways to express self-love, how to relax over the summer and more importantly, elective tips and experiences. For me it was an important topic to cover, especially f

This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay (Review)

This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay is probably one of the most talked about book of 2019. Having always been a fan of non-fiction books written by those in the healthcare industry, specifically the medical profession, I was very excited to read it but I was open to being disapproving. And I don't think that's a bad thing! This book has started a string of different healthcare professionals writing their own and I love it. I think it makes the professionals seem more human and it also shares insights into their jobs. I like that it's written as a diary although whether the dates are accurate wouldn't matter. It's the short eye catching and simply ridiculous stories that keeps the reader engaged throughout.  I can't lie, I absolutely love the book. I think it's hilarious, I think it's good humour, I think it's fitting. While I don't agree with the way he talked about all patients or staff members, nor all his actions - yes I'm talking

Swimming in Waterfalls at Krka National Park! (Croatia 2019)

Image
One thing we had to do in Croatia was go to the National Parks and see the waterfalls. Click here to see the vlog or watch below.  The morning started super early. We had breakfast on the way and slowly made our way to the meet up point in the middle of Split City Centre. Given how many little tour providers there are along the streets, it took a few minutes to find it so I was defintely glad we gave ourselves an extra ten minutes to play with.  It was a smooth journey and the tour guide and operator had clearly done the trip many times. We walked to the mini bus and then started making our way to Krka Waterfalls. I loved that the group was small and it felt much more intimate, instead of being a packed coach full. On the way, we heard little stories and snippets of Croatia history which I really appreciated.  Finally, we arrived at Krka National Park and it wasn't anywhere near as far as I thought it was. The tour guide went to get our tickets so that we didn
