June Round Up

Image
My birthday month is officially sadly over so with it comes a brand new monthly round up.  Book : I'm stuck on a really slow book right now so have literally read one chapter...one chapter! Film : With annual leave and other downtime days, I'm watched a number of films this month. Awake was one of my favourites, but I hated Yesterday.  TV Show : I literally fell in love with Sweet Tooth this month, and watched the entire season in the space of a day. I've also finished the new series of Working Moms which again was so funny and shoutout to the Canadian cast.  Podcast : Anyone who knows me, knows I love One Tree Hill and it is my all time favourite television show. The main girls of the show have just launched their own podcast called "Drama Queens" and I listened to it the second it launched! Blogger : I'm actually re-reading some of This Mama Life , especially the ones about long distance relationships as my friend is currently really struggling so I was try

RCM Graduation Gifts!

Image
Only 6 months late, but I finally received by Royal College of Midwives graduation gifts and certificate. To be honest, it was quite unexpected but a lovely surprise.  In the pack was a certificate and badge saying that I graduated in 2020. I actually love that. I'm sure it's because they had an excess of items, but given that I did actually finish my degree in December I always say I qualify in 2020 so for me, I find it more fitting. Plus of course, it's the International Year of the Midwife!  I also got a membership card and register book. I actually would have loved to use it and fill it in, to stay informed of all the babies I deliver for the rest of my career, however, I think now that I've already worked for 6 months, it's probably a little bit too late, so if anyone wants it, let me know and I would love to send it to you! Did your professional registration body send you any gifts for congratulations?

Starting Community, Canal Babies and Childhood Bestie!

With a move to community and the summer heatwave, I'm making the most of my downtime with friends and loved ones! Click here for the vlog or watch below.  A beautiful day post night shift was the perfect occasion for a barbeque. I went to Luke's parents house for the first time in a while and it was a beautiful day. I had thought I was invited to their bbq, but turns out Luke was in charge and just cooking for them, so not quite what I had anticipated. Even though Luke was my bubble over strict lockdown, and therefore his parents also, I didn't particularly like going to their house because it was in a very busy street and therefore a lot of people watching and I didn't feel I wanted to be judge.  Once eaten, we headed to his grandparents house to look in the field for a lost archery arrow. Sadly, we couldn't find it, but we did see the sheep. There is the cutest clip in the vlog when they were running in. We decided to name the brown one Boris! Sunny days continued

Fabstract UK Air Freshener (Review)

Image
I have been so obsessed with Fabstract UK for so long, having first found them on TikTok. The small business is run by a gorgeous lady who hand paints little plant pots in a range of different designs. Since first starting, the product range has expanded from air fresheners to car versions, mini versions for keyrings and now bookmarks! I can't wait to see what else she creates.  The product came in a lovely box with fancy pretty tape on the outside. When opened up, the top of the box had the beautiful quote card that doubled as a thank you card. I love that I can reuse this and put it in my bedroom, as it matches my colour scheme perfectly.  It came in a beautiful branded packaging. I was originally worried the plant pot itself, as it's ceramic, may break. But this was also wrapped separately in protective film and tissue paper. It was also on a bed of shredded tissue paper. Then the macramé hanger was put in a separate little gift bag.  I had been swooning over these products

A Quarter of a Decade and 25 Life Facts!

Image
I'm back from my annual leave after a lovely 11 days away from my day job and a week off my side job. I love what I do and I feel very lucky that I do a job that gives me great happiness and joy, but it's also so important to have quality time with loved ones and take a much needed break from time to time.  Like I said in my last post , this was the first time I've ever taken a scheduled break from blogging and vlogging and it truly felt amazing. I feel like I've been reset and now more than ever, I am excited to start writing again. I had a great few days with family and boyfriend, but I also celebrated my 25th birthday, so I thought, what would be a great post to come back with...25 facts about me of course! It's been a while since I've done any sort of get to know me post, so here we go! I grew up in a very loving family and until my parents got divorced when I was 12, I had an admittedly sheltered childhood.  I am one of four daughters, being the third olde

My Annual Leave Week!

Image
It's been such a long time since I've taken time off properly from the blog and my channel, but with my first official annual leave week from my day time job this year, I thought I would coincide it with a week off from my side job as well. I may still post on social media but I won't be sharing any new blog posts for the next week. Instead, I'll be enjoying myself and having some much needed down time!  It's actually my birthday week. I'm going to be spending the first half of the week with my mother and her family in Yorkshire, and then the second half with my dad in Wales. I'm sure it will be a fun but relaxing, enjoyable few days. I can't wait to have some true time to chill and just be.  Until then, enjoy the sunny weather and as my father always says, remember suncream and hydration!

My First Sikh Wedding!

Image
My closest cousin got married last month and it was a bit of a different wedding to that which I'm used to! Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  The ceremonies actually started a week before the official wedding, with lots of little events in the build up. There was the first of the brides events in Wakefield but I was unfortunately at work. There was also a Sangeet, but again I was at work. It was all organised a little last minute with things being up in the air because of Covid. The first of the events I attended was the Mehndi. I woke up a little early from my night shift and headed over to the house. Emma was half way though getting her henna done. Originally, she wanted a relatively simple design but ended up going for a more intricate version, which looked almost like lace gloves and socks.    The rest of the women got some random designs as the henna artist had free reign. Jess got a really pretty one and with me at work the next week, I got a less detailed version.
