Lincoln Cathedral, Shopping Spree and Slug+Lettuce!

With work and other commitments, Luke and I weren't going to spend time together for almost 3 weeks so we both booked a day off work and took a day trip to Lincoln.

I actually wasn't feeling great at the start of the walk. We were walking up a big hill and I felt so dizzy, exhausted and had a headache, but as soon as it started raining, I felt so much better. Sadly, by that point, I'd already sat down on a bench with bird poo and got it on my hand and coat!

The cathedral was the first thing on Luke's to do list and admittedly, it looked gorgeous from the outside. I was planning on going in myself, but in the end it was charged, and I just don't enjoy it enough to warrant paying. Luke ended up going in for an hour, whilst I stayed outside and walked around. It was a good decision on his part because almost the entire time he was inside, it poured down with rain! I found a little private garden next to the cathedral and then I walked around the building. It was truly beautiful.

After the cathedral, we headed down to the marina which is apparently one of the few that isn't linked to the sea, but it was really pretty there and the weather started to finally brighten up. We stopped by Costa for a couple of drinks on the way down, and then drank them overlooking the waters edge. Then we made our way back up and did a little bit of shopping. I was really looking for some wedding presents, father's day presents and some gold jewellery. I got one of the three things at least!
For tea, we had our first date night out since last year thanks to lockdown! We were originally looking for a little independent restaurant but we couldn't find any that were open because it was a Monday. We then were going to go to TGIs but they've changed their menu, so instead we went to the Slug and Lettuce. Luke had never been, and the last time I went it was amazing. Sadly, it was a little disappointing this time. We were originally told there was no tables, then that there was one but only for an hour, then that the bar was free... anyway, we sat down and got served and everything really quickly. The food tasted nice but the portions were really quite small, pretty basic, and ultimately cold. I also didn't love that you had to order via an app because you couldn't alter the menu at all, which is always frustrating.

To end the night, we walked back through the mini sculpture park because I didn't really get the opportunity to enjoy it on the way up because I felt so rubbish. There was a robot mother and baby, dragon eggs and a knight...at least that's my thoughts!
I thought I'd quickly show my mini purchases before closing the vlog for the night. I bought a father's day card, some salted caramel hotel chocolate and a set of gold jewellery for my cousin's wedding next week, with a necklace, bracelet and earrings!
