Smyle: Sustainable Toothpaste (Review)

Image
Smyle is a company I found advertised on Instagram and of course, I had to try it. They focus on zero plastic waste products and given toothpaste tubes are non-reuseable and get thrown away so easily, it's something that does need to be looked into. Smyle hope to pioneer seroplastic bathrooms, and they are starting with toothpaste. Toothpaste Tabs are cute and sustainable at the same time. They are completely natural. The ingredients we use are healthy for your teeth and don’t harm the environment. They are former from natural ingredients, such as eucalyptus and peppermint. They can be stored in a glass bottle or a tine, which last forever but can also easily be recycled. Refills come in special compostable paper sachet refill packs which can then be transferred into containers. A standard refill package contains 125 Toothpaste Tabs, enough for two months of brushing, twice a day.  The toothpaste is easy to use. You simply crush the mint with your teeth, brush with a wet toothbrush

Unconditional Offer to Study my Masters

Image
For most people, they can't wait to finish studying, whether that be GCSEs, A Levels or university. Well after finishing my undergraduate degree in January 2020, I knew I wanted to continue my education, especially for research purposes. My long term plan was to do a Master's degree and then a PhD. I wanted to focus on finishing my preceptorship first and then once I got my band 6 , I wanted to apply for my Masters, ideally starting in September 2022.  Well, when I realised I had finished my preceptorship package, I quickly started looking for courses. I was very much interested in focussing on research and I ended up finding a few PhD's I could apply for, due to my previous research experience. However, I then came across an Advanced Midwifery Practice Masters. Whilst I do currently feel happy with my practice, I thought this was a great option for me as a newly qualified midwife as it would continue to benefit my clinical practice as well. I applied a few weeks okay, quic

Takeaways Galore, Deer Season and Mortgage Success!

Image
I've been so busy with life recently. My downtime has been overtaken with house stuff or overtime!  Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  Luke and I headed out for a nice last minute pub meal with some friends as a double date. It was very much belated because it was suppose to in December and go delayed due to Luke having covid. We went to a pub I don't particularly like but with a new menu and new management, it was delicious!  In between night shifts, I headed to Wollaton with my cousin and her dog. There were so many deer there. It's mating / breeding season so there were a lotttttt, really close. The god is so big and was so funny chasing after all the birds.  This vlog is from the last few weeks as I honestly haven't done much. I have had so many meetings for my mortgage and it finally got approved...subject to valuation! I have both my survey and valuation next week so I'm interested to see how it all goes and then it's (almost) in the bag. To celeb

Your Guide to a Day Trip to: Chester

Image
Chester is a city in northwest England, founded as a Roman fortress in the 1st century A.D. It's known for its extensive Roman walls made of local red sandstone. In the old city, the Rows is a shopping district distinguished by 2-level covered arcades and Tudor-style half-timber buildings. A Roman amphitheatre, with ongoing excavations, lies just outside the old city's walls.  It's a city I have now visited multiple times, as it's the closest big city to my dad's new house, but Luke is pretty obsessed with it, so it's also where we spent his birthday week. Personally, I'm not a massive fan and it just reminds me of a cheaper and tackier version of York .  1. Visit Chest Zoo. My personal favourite! We went in the winter so the opening hours were shorter, but  I could have easily spent 2 full days there. The first half we only saw about 20% of the zoo and then we had to rush through the rest, missing just a few animals.  2. Stroll along the Chester Walls. Anot

Carat London: Coralie Necklace (Review)

Image
I love jewellery and I have been very lucky over the past year to be gifted a few signature pieces to add to my collection. This review is of another gifted item, from Carat London. Carat was founded over 20 years ago. They wanted to create fashion and fine jewellery, working exclusively with the finest alternatives to mined gemstones. They continue to focus on quality non-mined gemstones today, making the brand sustainable and conscientious.  I got the option to select from three necklaces, and unfortunately the one I had initially picked was out of stock. Due to the way they are made, there are limited supplies of each necklace but they try to restock where possible. My necklace arrived in truly beautiful packaging. It was in a box and then secured with soft wrap, before being revealed in a hard box, wrapped with a ribbon. It was truly a special experience.  Inside, the necklace was secured in a satin lined box. The necklace is really pretty, dainty and delicate. It's well made a

World Hypnobirthing Day 2022

Image
Many of you may know that I completed my hypnobirthing instructor training with The Wise Hippo during the first lockdown. It taught me a lot about not only teaching others, but also myself. Well, today is World Hypnobirthing Day. It magically falls on a Monday meaning I just had to dedicate a post to it for my Midwifery Monday series.  The day always falls on 21st March because it represents the beginning of Spring, symbolising fertility, birth and new beginnings. It is a day for all parents, teachers and programmes to come together and celebrate this life changing education. When the entire community come together, we can and we will create more awareness for all.  For me, antenatal education is vital in every families journey to parenthood. Hypnobirthing education takes that one step further. It combines an understanding of the physiology of birth and the relaxation and breathing techniques to use. This education is key to reducing fear and increasing confidence. A comprehensive hyp

Your Guide to a Day Trip to: Bath

Image
I went to Bath a few years ago now on a family trip to Wiltshire. My mum, sister and I took my grandma and her two sisters back to the family home they grew up in and learning about all our family history on the way. It was actually a really lovely 1 week break and I was so grateful to be able to get the time off work to go. Bath is the largest city in the county of Somerset, England, known for and named after its Roman-built baths. It is also in the valley of the River Avon.  1. Marvel at the Roman Baths.  The city’s premier attraction, the Roman Baths have been attracting visitors for 2,000 years! It's built around natural hot springs and still to this day is functional, making it really feel like the ancient Roman period of time.  2. Relax at the Thermae Bath Spa. The spa uses the water from the three natural hot springs, so you can swim between relaxing treatments or visits to the aromatherapy rooms. It's a once in a lifetime experience!  3. Visit the Bath Abbey. Made with

Organise with Stackers

Image
As I am sure you well know, I have a big love for Stackers . They are one of my favourite companies! They specialise in high quality, stylish organisational options. I now have a few different products of theirs, so I thought I would give my honest opinion of the products. The first product I bought or received was my Stackers jewellery box . This is hands down my favourite product. I love that it is personable and you can add to it as your collection grows. They have a large range of different drawers, so you can select those which suit your style and taste of jewellery. My biggest annoyance with these is that the top lid layer, has a popper style close and I really wish it was magnetic. I also find the stacking function, whilst great for adding to over time, it can look a little messy when not perfectly lined up, and also, you have to take off every layer about the layer you want. They have now released a traditional drawer style layer which works in the same way, but they pull out o

Exciting News...An Accepted Offer!

Image
I know traditionally my Monday posts are all about maternity and midwifery topics, however I am far too excited not to share the big news in writing. I am so pleased to announce that my offer on my first house has been accepted!  I shared that I put my first offer in on a house in Clifton back in January. The house was lovely and had a great layout, with perfect storage and despite some aesthetic work, it was a perfect home. One of the main downsides was that it didn't have a drop curb and the driveaway was shared access with the neighbour. Also, the side access door had had the steps up to it removed so it wasn't actually useable unfortunately.  I ended up viewing another two properties after that, of which one was very similar and another in a better area, but requiring a lot of work, so despite the potential, it wasn't for me. Luke did however put in an offer that was unfortunately rejected.  Well fast forward to the end of February and I got an email from one of the es

Your Guide to a Day Trip to: Cambridge

Image
Cambridge is a well-known city in England and one that's famous across the world. I've been quite a lot over recent years, starting with my first visit when I was looking around the university there. Since then, I've visited friends who live in the city and my sister has taken me on a number of days out with the kids. The city is on the River Cam in eastern England, home to the prestigious university. Colleges include King’s, famed for its choir and towering Gothic chapel, and Trinity, founded by Henry VIII.  1. Walk around the city.  Personally, I think Cambridge is one of the cities you can walk around for hours. The architecture is so diverse and you can see the history of the centuries.  2. Punt down the river. If you only go to Cambridge once, you have to go punting. It's a long thin boat, which is driven by a person standing and using a stick to push your way along the river bed. The river is really shallow! You have two options of renting the boats, one with a gu
