Ponderosa Zoo, Vineyard Tour and Garden Sunshine!

I had a few days off back in Wakefield so met up with a friend for a day trip to the zoo and celebrated my sister turning 40 at the vineyard!

The first morning after my cousin's wedding, started off a little stressful. I woke up in the middle of the night and my phone wasn't charging which was odd. After messing around, I realised the charger had actually broken off inside the charging port. I just about managed to rig it to be the perfect angle in order for it to start charging but I knew I was going to have to try and sort it out the next day.

Unfortunately, I also had plans to meet an old university friend that morning. So I woke up, tried to get it out myself and failed miserably, to the point where it wouldn't even charge at all, then I booked an appointment with Apple. Leeds had no appointments, so I ended up having to book Sheffield. I then set off to meet my friend and we headed to Ponderosa Zoo.

She had recently moved to Yorkshire and so we looked at something midway between the two of us on the map. I don't remember ever going before, but apparently I've been to a few children birthday parties there so it was interesting to go back. It was actually really lovely and sweet. It's quite small but lots to do and you could defintely spend more time if wanted. She also told me some really exciting news!

Afterwards, I headed straight to Sheffield. My appointment wasn't for a few hours but I thought I could get there and eat if not able to be seen. When I got there, Apple were actually really good and saw me pretty quickly as a walk in instead. One "floor" person tried to get it first but were unsuccessful, so ended up taking it back to the specialists. I think they somewhat took it apart, but anyway, I got it back and it was thankfully fixed! I was so worried, because I had literally only just paid it off and reduced my phone bill. I was so ready for a relaxing evening by the time I got back so enjoyed a nice evening chilling in the hot tub, before watching a film.
The next day was my sister's surprise 40th birthday. I was so honoured to have been reached out by her cousin and invited to attend for the celebrations. Her cousin's on her mum's side aren't related to me, but I've seen a couple of them growing up, however not for 15+ years probably. We ended up meeting them at a Vineyard in Holmfirth. One of my high school friends had actually had a hen party here and it looked beautiful but it's safe to say I will never go back.

It was an absolute nightmare to get there and I was so scared driving on multiple occasions. Once there, the parking was an absolute nightmare. Luckily, we still got there with time to spare for the surprise, although she wasn't quite as surprised as I thought. The tour itself was minimal and the wine tasting was brief. There wasn't many seats to sit down so it felt a bit rushed, and it didn't help that the weather was quite cold. Of course, I don't drink but apparently the wine didn't even taste nice.
Afterwards, we had a couple of drinks inside the restaurant, alongside some snacks and nibbles at the same time. It was a lot of fun and so nice to speak to everyone. Then we made our way back to one of my sister's cousin's house. Then plan was for a barbeque, but she decided for an alternative Greek buffet. I was a little worried I wouldn't like the food but it was delicious and I even went back for seconds. It was so nice to see and spend time with my niece and nephew, my niece especially, but of course I got roped into hide and seek...and then they forgot about me! To end the night, we had a race night. I've never played before but it's basically pre-recorded races and you place a bet of 50p per race. I came home with more money which is always good, but defintely a game of luck rather than skill because there wasn't very much information on the race, horses etc.
Originally, I was planning on driving back to Nottingham straight after the party, but when I looked at my ESR (online e-learning portal) a couple weeks before, my CTG training had actually almost expired. If it expires, you can't do antenatal or labour care, so I had to email management to try and sort. Ultimately, due to weddings and annual leave, the first day I could attend was Monday, but I was on two night shifts so I ended up getting moved off them and having an extra day to enjoy the sunshine in Wakefield. I played with the dogs in the garden for a while and we even had a cute little photoshoot.
