Throwback Thursday: I was on TV!

Image
So 10 years ago I was on a TV show celebrating rhubarb. Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrtrEyWAekQ It's literally the most hilarious thing, I was dying of laughter and crying tears of joy because of it.

Fifty Shades of Grey (Review)

Image
Probably one of the most anticipated movie's of the year and it may easily become a favourite of mine. Other than the premier I was in the first screening in the UK of Fifty Shades of Grey. 11.30 on Friday morning, the film started and I was the only one in the screening. A free glass of champagne provided the perfect atmosphere, even though I don't drink it. I loved the movie. It was perfect: 1. It used all my favourite quotes from the book. 2. The actors, for me, were exactly as I imagined. 3. They stuck to the storyline without letting the plot drag on. 4. It was romantic. 5. The sex scenes weren't explicit just faultlessly and artistically filmed in a tasteful way and of course...HOT! ________________________________________________________ I'm not going to dwell on it and write a full movie review because I know a lot of people are against it but it was my sort of a movie; I love it and I think it was very classy. One thing I will say, don...

Virginity or Maternity Prom Dresses 🤰

Image
I was looking through Dorothy Perkins looking for a dress for a ball I have coming up and came across Maternity Prom Dresses? Really?! I was shocked. Yes. There may be a market nowadays, what with all the teenagers getting pregnant young, but I'm not sure if the mass market should support this. I feel like having dresses specifically tailored for teen pregnancy makes it seem normal and okay. Most teenage pregnancies are accidents and unwanted. Very few are planned and reasonably thought out. I think, my year at high school had one of the highest teenage pregnancies in the entire history of the school. I had a number of people I knew, get pregnant before the end of Year 11. A number of whom are now on baby number 2. I think the total of babies from my year at high school has now reached well over 10. That's 10 newborns with teenage mothers. 10 babies that are living off there grandparents or of the government welfare. 10 children who will likely grow up without fathers. ...

'The Vampire Diaries' vs 'The Originals'

Image
As I was scrolling through my Google+ app the other day, I came across a post. The topic of  which was 'The Vampire Diaries' or 'The Originals'. 'The Vampire Diaries' or 'The Originals'. That's the question. I don't know which I prefer. To be honest, I love them both so much. They are exactly the genre I am interested in. Teen television with hot actors and actresses, centred in a romance full of drama. The terrible woes of 2 brothers falling in love with the same woman. The Vampire Diaries came first but it is getting very boring and slow, like the writers can't think of another story line. But I love books, the first 4 series were amazing and I can't wait to see what happens with - SPOILER ALERT - Bonnie! Eeek! The Originals is finally starting to go somewhere. I love the connection between Hayley and Klaus and the fact that baby Hope is back is great. Everyone knows I love babies, right? I l think that both shows would b...

Breastfeeding Welcome

Image
Walking into the garden centre made me smile. It is so nice to see a business that supports public breastfeeding. It annoys me so bad when all the newspapers say 'Breast Is Best' but then NO-ONE supports public breastfeeding. It seems like when women breastfeed in public, others look at them in disgust and that they should be ashamed.  As you can see, I am clearly FOR public breastfeeding. However, I do not agree that 'Breast Is Best'. I think that the type of milk which is the best for the baby, is the type of milk that is best for the mother. Some women struggle with breastfeeding, literally cannot or find it painful. That then leads to stress of the mother and hence in return, of the baby. If the mother is happy and healthy, the baby will be all the better for it.  Two stories. First of all, my sister had a very high blood pressure when she gave birth to my first niece. It meant that she had to take a number of different medications, which would endange...

The Theory of Everything (Review)

Image
I think I may have fallen in love with Stephen Hawking.  Firstly, who knew his surname was Hawking and not Hawkins?! Not me... I'm just hoping I don't write it wrong throughout. The Theory of Everything: A  story of the physicist Stephen Hawking and Jane Wilde, the arts student he fell in love with while studying at  Cambridge University .   Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis. With Jane by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very  thing he now has precious little of: time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new grounds in science and achieve more than they could have  ever   dreamed. The film is based on the memoir "Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen" by Jane Hawking.  (Credit to Rotten Tomatoes)  Eddie Redmayne is possibly the best actor to have graced the screen in a long time. His incredible dedication is thoroughly apprecia...

OPI Haul

Image
On Boxing Day, I ended up spending most of my Christmas money on OPI nail varnishes. 2 years ago for Christmas, my sister got me a gorgeous sparkly blue set and ever since I have been completely in love with the brand.  When I went to Portugal in the summer I bought a mini set of 'Party' varnishes and again I loved them all.  So this year on my Christmas list was a selection of new colours. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any so I treated myself instead.  Today, I spent the morning doing swatches but I only remembered to take pictures of a third of them...idiot I know! :')  Here is a haul of the new colours I have purchased. Kiss Me - Or Elf  A gorgeous purple-red Rollin in Cashmere  The prettiest full coverage gold Unfrost My Heart  Oh my...this is my favourite colour! It is such a nice and dark silver with flecks of sparkle. Don't judge it by my picture! I smudged it while it was drying :( Red Fingers and Mistletoe  A gorg...
