Breastfeeding Welcome

Walking into the garden centre made me smile. It is so nice to see a business that supports public breastfeeding.

It annoys me so bad when all the newspapers say 'Breast Is Best' but then NO-ONE supports public breastfeeding. It seems like when women breastfeed in public, others look at them in disgust and that they should be ashamed.

As you can see, I am clearly FOR public breastfeeding. However, I do not agree that 'Breast Is Best'. I think that the type of milk which is the best for the baby, is the type of milk that is best for the mother. Some women struggle with breastfeeding, literally cannot or find it painful. That then leads to stress of the mother and hence in return, of the baby. If the mother is happy and healthy, the baby will be all the better for it.

Two stories. First of all, my sister had a very high blood pressure when she gave birth to my first niece. It meant that she had to take a number of different medications, which would endanger Bop if she continued to breastfeed, so for obvious reasons she stopped. I do love that bottles mean everyone can feed the baby. Having Bop lie down on me, and cuddle while feeding, is one of those moments you get to feel really close to them. Oh the memories...

Secondly, even my own families behaviour sometimes appals me. One of my own cousins breastfed her youngest child at a private family even and the comments afterwards was utterly disturbing to me. If a women feels confident enough to publicly breastfeed then it is up to them how they choose to do so. Other people don't have to look.

Don't get me wrong, I think everyone is perfectly fine to have their own opinion, but do not force it down other people's neck.  You can choose to disagree with other people but that doesn't mean an argument has to be caused.

I would love to hear your opinions, so leave a comment below!
