Life in a Wheelchair ♿

Image
My time in a wheelchair was brief and even then I struggled. I hated how much I relied on others to help and how much independence I lost. I had an accident in Morocco  causing me to sprain one ankle and have a grade 3 ligament tear to the other. Granted I'm used to being able to work and do my own thing at all time and I had a old fashioned wheelchair, not one that was electric that I could control, so it was a massive change. Having said that, what I experienced in terms of judgement and accessibility really opened my eyes to how people must live. On holiday there was a show stage down 3 steep flights of stairs. There was absolutely no way I could make it down them so the staff took me a different way. It was a staff only way with steep ramps, underground tunnels and even then, still a small flight of stairs. I didn't feel safe going down the dilapidated staff access tunnels but when they brought me to the stairs I was shocked. They said it was wheelchair accessible and...

A Voice for Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens by Lydie Denier 📚

Image
I'm currently a member of a number of  Facebook groups  to promote my work on here and one of which,  Bloggers Corner , I'm a moderator on. When Lydie Denier posted about a book she had written, I was instantly intrigued. My genre of books tends to be fiction, usually romance, like the  last book  I reviewed here, or dystopian, like my favourite book of all time The Host.  After joining the Facebook group, I just couldn't seem to get the book out of my head. Something about it was calling to me and so I decided to reach out to Lydie to see if I could get a copy and she seemingly happily obliged.  In the process of  moving flats  and all my  physiotherapy appointments , I struggled to find the time to read the book but once I settled in, I picked it up and couldn't put it down. After the first couple of chapters I was hooked and just kept wanting to read more. By the second evening, it was done. I'd finished a story about the ...

SO. LONG. by Kelley Harvey (Review) 📚

When I heard the plot of this book I was really excited but as I've been reading similar books this summer, I'd hoped for something a little different and I wasn't disappointed! I loved this book! She's an author and he's a veteran who building up his career. She's divorced and he has a problem of his own. Fate brings them together but challenges keep them apart. The characters seem like real people with real feelings. I loved how their relationship began as bickering neighbours but blossomed at the end. I think the important relationship with all the children in the story really bring everyone together. I loved the little additions. As an author, we get to read a few little excerpts from her books and writings which I loved and then on his part, we got a little bonus with past scenes from his time in the army. It would have been nice to have a few more. I wish the story was a little more developed. I would have loved to hear about the recovery time an...

Travelling the World! 🌎

Miah Ke-Leigh writes her own self-titled blog here . You can find her on Instagram and Facebook too. She is an 18 year old South African girl, living in the Netherlands; she loves writing in her blog about, and finds that it reflects her interests in, fashion, makeup, food and traveling. I loved that while she covers 'soft' topics, she also wants to discuss topics which hit much harder. Veganism, cruelty free makeup and how to be positive are just a few of the important topics she has touched on. After discovering blogging through her love for writing short stories and poetry, she wanted to be more visually creative by adding photographs and videos to become involved in the digital era. She has lots of experience with collaborations so I'm really excited to work with her today! After reading about her love of travel , I was really intrigued as to what sort of differences she sees between each country and how different the lifestyle is between them all. I think she has s...

Cockpit by Joanna Blake (Review) Bonus: Plus Other Writings 📚

Image
Wow. Like most girls, I think the fantasy of an army man whisking you off your feet is dreamy; true love at first site is another bucket list wish. Adding them together in this pun-intended titled novel, makes this one of my favourite stand alone books ever. Unlike a lot of dirty romance scenes the ones placed in this book were hot but not totally unrealistically kinky and messy. I really liked that because it made it 10x more enjoyable and made the fantasy all the more real. The characters have a hot and turmoiled relationship but when they find themselves torn apart, neither stops remembering the other. I love how it shows a real relationship where misunderstandings are frequent. This isn't a book that makes you believe in the perfect relationship but it is one that gives you faith. It gives you faith that for everything awful that happens, good will prevail. Honestly, who couldn't fall for a man who fights for his girl, admits when he's wrong - even when he isn...
