Adding Spring Artwork to the House!

Image
With the house projects slowly coming to an end, I decided to add some printed artwork for some final decor touches around the house. I headed to the Desenio website and found such a selection of different types of prints and so many options.  Desenio is an interior decor company, based in Sweeden and specifically has Scandinavian design. If you've followed me for a while, you'll know I am a huge fan of the company. Their foundation is simple: stylish wall art should be affordable to everyone. They have now been open for 13 years and continue to grow year on year. I am so honoured to be a ambassador for the company and am always happy to share their new collections! Despite being based in mainland Europe, they have online presence in 33 countries and deliver quickly to the UK as well. Postage is free if you spend £50 and orders tend to be received within 2 weeks. As mentioned, they specialise in high quality posters, but also have the option to purchase frames, hangers, picture...

23andMe: Analysis (Review)

Image
Last week I shared all about who 23andMe are and the collection process. This week is about the results. The reports take 3-4 weeks to receive. I liked being kept updated of the process along the way and what stage my sample is at. It took a long time for delivery to be confirmed which I was a little worried about, but then less than a week for all the reports to be back. I was kept informed at all stages of the process and it was nice to see what the next steps were along the way.  There is a multitude of genetic reports produced, backed by science. 23andMe ensure rigorous quality standards to ensure reports are clinically valid and accurate. All saliva samples are processed in labs in the United States that meet local regulations. Genotyping is a well-established and reliable platform for analysing DNA and ancestry percentages are derived from our powerful, well-tested system that provides you with ancestry estimates down to the 0.1% I was really excited to see what areas of hea...

Love or Lust, Current Relationship Update

Image
Going from a three and a half year relationship to dating within a few months, was probably one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. I threw myself in full force in an attempt to move on at my ex's request and looking back, I wish I didn't. I wish I'd let myself heal from the grief, instead of forcing myself to move on.  I really felt with B that I was starting to move on and fall for someone else. I was vulnerable and shared myself in every sense of the word. He seemed to be everything I wanted, but then we had sex. I probably rushed into it to please him because I wanted him to be happy, but afterwards, everything changed.  I've always said, to me sex is love. I know for a lot of people over the years, that perspective has changed dramatically. It is no longer just for the confinement of marriage and most people have many sexual partners over the course of their lifetime. I've nothing against people who have sex adventurously or those who wait for marriage. Person...

House Leak, Doors Replaced and Goodbye Forever!

Image
Just when I thought life couldn't go any more wrong or get any worse, of course it did. I had some more small steps of utility room renovation progress and said a final goodbye to the love of my life.  Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  I got back from my one week holiday to Jamaica and returned to a broken boiler. Luckily, I was able to be talked through fixing it myself without having to pay someone to fix it once again. Of course, the next day I had to try and get the leak in the kitchen fixed. The old builders came out to look but said they couldn't find anything. They did end up resealing the bath, sealing the tile and finally ordering a replacement for both the shower head and plug for the sink. I had thought this had been ordered in December but of course, not. I did decorate for Easter a little to cheer myself up. Some of the decorations hadn't yet arrived but I put up what I did have.  Luckily, one thing did go right on my return to Nottingham and that w...

Utility Renovation: New Internal Doors Downstairs

Image
Since looking at the house back in February 2022, I knew I really did not like the doors downstairs. It wasn't so much the doors themselves, but the handles, the fact that they didn't fit the door frames, the latches didn't align and this mismatch. I knew that when I planned on completing the utility room renovation, there was going to be 4 different doors within a small one meter squared space. I just didn't love the idea of that and since I needed to buy at least one new door, I thought I would look  at doing them all at the same time.  When I was originally quoted, I was a little shocked at the cost. I hadn't expected it to be so much so I looked at a few other companies. In the end, when I totalled the cost of the doors, hinges, latches, handles and locks, it was only slightly cheaper to pay to buy and fit myself which would be a faff, so I pulled the trigger and decided to pay for the complete package.  The joiner I booked had loads of availability and came to ...

23andMe: Collection (Review)

Image
I was so excited to finally purchase the 23andMe kit earlier this year. It was something I'd wanted to do a few years ago but it was a little bit more expensive than I wanted to pay. January was the first time I'd seen it have a good sale and I just thought with everything going on in my life, being able to see a health and genetic update, might be a source of motivation.  23andMe provides a service which allows individuals to explore and understand their genes. Using only saliva and no blood, the process is as simple as possible. Once ordered, a home-based saliva collection kit is sent to your home with clear instructions on how to collect and the postage included to return the sample to the lab.  There are two different types to purchase. One is for Health and one for Ancestry. If you include the health insights, it provides information on your health predispositions, carrier status, traits, wellness and ancestry. The ancestry service helps you understand who you are, where ...

Online Dating and my Bumble Experience

Image
This was a post I promised way back when and I just honestly never got around to sharing it at the time and then with things and emotions changing in regards to my previous relationship , I wasn't in the right place to talk about it. Well, I'm finally getting around to writing up all about my brief period of dating life from back in September 2022.  I've always hated the thought of  online dating . I briefly downloaded Tinder in my third year of university and I think I had it for a grand total of 2 days before deleting it again. I didn't enjoy that everything was based off of looks and there was so little information on individual's profiles. I would always read what was on the profile and base it off of that, so if there wasn't any information, then I would decline and swipe no. The few people I did match with had no connection over conversation and in all honesty, I didn't particularly have a strong desire to be in a relationship so I quickly moved on.  F...
