Utility Renovation: Boiler Cupboard

Image
This post being written makes me so excited because this has been a long and truly drawn out project. I cannot believe how close it is to being done.  The boiler was originally in my utility room with uneven wallpaper surrounding, dark navy blue paint and ugly pipes. I knew I wanted it to be hidden the second I bought the property but it's been a struggle to actually get it sorted. Initially my plan was to use my leftover utility room cupboards to cut down and make a matching unit, which my dad was going to do. When I spoke to him, he had other ideas and was only going to box in the pipe work and not the boiler itself which I didn't actually like the idea of. In the end I asked for the opinion of a joiner and he recommended it be completed in another way.  As he was so busy, there was quite a bit of a delay, but nevertheless, he was lovely. He was very professional and arrived on time. He completed all the work in a timely manner and tidied up after himself. I could not be hap...

Bloom & Wild: June 2023

Image
This month's letterbox flower delivery from Bloom & Wild is by far my favourite to date. I specifically chose the June Pick bouquet in honour of my birthday month, which has since been remained The Best Friends Day Pick.  The box has13 stems, including roses, carnations, limonium, alstroemeria and eucalyptus. It smells divine and looks beautiful. All the flowers came in perfect condition, with no damage. They were all of similar lengths and bloomed the day after they were received.  I loved the colour combination and how pretty the entire bouquet was together. I am so pleased with it! If you're interested in your own letterbox bouquet, you can get a discount using my link .

The Best Things I Ever Did for my Mental Health

Image
Whilst my mental health still isn’t great, after the guest post last week, I thought I’d share some more practical actions I’ve implemented to improve my own mental health since the start of the year.  As I’ve previously discussed, I have treated it as an illness and sought medical professional help. I started counselling and sertraline in January, which I’ve spoken about in more detail on previous posts. Ultimately, I felt they helped initially and now progress has become more stagnant. However, I know for a fact those first few counselling sessions saved my life and without them, I think I would be gone. I was also taking vitamin supplements, but now the sun is out more, I feel these are less important. Since then, I've also incorporated the app Clementine into my life. I don't use it super regularly, but I do like the gently reminders to be kinder to myself and the encouraging words and exercises.  This leads on to going for walks. When my cousin doesn’t cancel last minute,...

Bank Holiday, Family Time and Baby Birds!

Image
I spent the Bank Holiday weekend with a lot of my family and it was the best weekend off.  Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  I had my first bank holiday weekend off this year and it was lovely. It was a very much needed break and time to spend with family. It was also truly beautiful weather so I wore dresses the entire time. I even accidently got a little sunburnt.  I started my Friday off with a lovely sunshine walk with my cousin and nephew. We then went to the pub for a delicious lunch and it was so nice. I couldn't believe the time when I ended up getting off. I quickly drove home, packed and set off. On the way, I stopped for fuel and ended up having a car wash true. The drive over to my sister's house was awful. I set off at 4 and didn't arrive until half 7. There was a terrible accident which meant I was in stand still traffic for 40 minutes. There were ambulances, police cars and helicopters as well.  When I got back, we chilled and chatted and got...

Home Security and Feeling Safe Alone

Image
Living alone as a single woman with little family nearby, has always left me feeling somewhat anxious about being home alone. It has got easier since getting to know my neighbours and making the house feel more like a home, but security is still important, especially when it comes to personal safety. On top of that, of course I am away a lot overnight so with night shifts and day shifts switching off regularly, it's nice to be able to have eyes on the property when I'm not around.  I first bought my Ring door bell for my rental property and I loved it. I loved being able to see who was at the door before opening it and it always made me feel more secure. Since having the bathroom done and being intimidated by my builders at the time, I have since slowly added more cameras around the house and I now very much feel at peace knowing that if there was to be another confrontation or more threatening behaviour, I would have proof to back it up.  I now have 4 security cameras around ...

Knitte: Dreamcatcher (Review)

Image
I could have sworn I wrote this post already, but it seems to have disappeared so here we go again. I am so excited to share the latest addition to my master bedroom. I can't tell you how happy I am with this new decor piece and it is beyond gorgeous.  I have been following Annie at Knitte for years on Instagram. I love all her products and the beauty she creates with wire and wool. I have wanted to purchase something, but I've never known what to choose. A lot of the items I love, I imagine in the perfect children's room or baby's nursery. I am sure I will be purchasing them in the future!  Anyway, I saw these dreamcatchers pop up and I thought with everything going on at the moment, I need all the help I can with sleep and dreams. I thought the colours would hopefully tie in all the colours in my bedroom which just seemed perfect.  The only problem was that when I went to select the colours, I was torn between a number of different alternatives. I ended up conversing ...
