TV Shows I'm Loving in 2021!

Image
As I mentioned in my January Round Up post, I've absolutely loved watching some new shows already this year and although I picked my favourite for the post (Bridgerton!), I still wanted to share all the others too, alongside some mini reviews. Since lockdown 3.0 started, there hasn't been a whole lot to do so I have very much become addicted to television. I feel like I've exhausted and become bored of the walk so I'm glad Netflix are still releasing new shows, whilst also catching up on some old ones that I've been waiting to watch for a while. Here are the shows I've binge watched over the last two months!  Bridgerton Let's start with my favourite show of the month. I absolutely fell in love with these regancy period drama and loved the modern take on the stories and the characters. I thought it was refreshing to see the simplicity of storylines, infused with the hot sex scenes that are usually avoided in these shows. It reminds me of The Duchess with Kei...

Date Night Activity: Relationship Honesty!

Image
I wanted to continue with a date night activity after last week's  post. This time, it's even simpler and perhaps a great one if you're early on in your dating relationship, wanting to discuss the deep questions for the next step or just hoping to get to know each other on a deeper level. I think I was ticking the box of all three!  A few days before, it's important to do a little bit of preparation and ask both yourself and your partner to write 5 to 10 questions each. I think they should be questions that you wouldn't normally ask each other because perhaps your too scared, or worried about what the other person would think, or perhaps just because you want to really be able to get to know the other person. Then, sit down, get comfortable and share your souls!  I think it's fun to have both parties answer the questions, but take turns asking them. Some examples could be: What is your love language? The 5 main ones are: words of affirmation, quality time, recei...

Another Midwifery Graduation Gift Idea: NHS Key Worker Keyring (Review)

Image
I've shared one midwifery graduation present idea before, but here's another! This is a gift I got from my friend, old housemate and fellow midwifery course mate. It's a small keyring from a small business called  Keekadee Designs . They make handmade and hand painted gifts and keepsakes that " will be sure to put smiles upon many faces ". The owner sent each keyring in it's own silver mesh bag, with a business card and thank you label. I love that it had NHS Hero on it, as it reminds me of the Covid-19 pandemic, even though I don't see myself as a hero. My qualified midwife uniform is a lilac tunic and trousers (or dress), so the colour match is perfect! I also have my name on it and long brown hair. I think the little fob detail makes it all the better! It's not the best quality in terms of finish, it's very light weight and has some brush stroke marks, but it's the perfect gift and keepsake for the future.  All the keyrings are made to orde...

Missing Snow, Ring Doorbell and Cleaning Day!

Image
The snow came to Nottingham, he finally put up the doorbell and I forced myself to do a cleaning day! Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  The week started off with a trip to the hospital on my day off. I had to go to another location because the appointments to get my uniform were so late at my hospital, so I rang and got an appointment for the next day which was great. I was even able to take them away, so they didn't have to be ordered in, which was unexpected. I was running a little late so didn't take any pictures of me trying the clothes on, plus it was a little stressful. I unexpectedly had to de-ice the car, to the point where I couldn't even open the door and then I was pretty blocked in so had to do a 20-odd point turn to get out.  When I got back, I had a lovely surprise with a present from Sam. I've talked more about it here but it's a keyring which matches what I look like. Then I made a start on some more mandatory training. Most of it is unpaid...

January 2020 Round Up!

Image
I'm starting a new tradition this year of doing monthly round up posts. I thought that with everything going on it would be a nice way to remember the month, share some favourites and inspire others with things I have been enjoying. Let's start with January!  Book: Christmas Shopaholic is the latest edition to the Shopaholic series. I started this series with the Shopaholic and Baby book, in Year 6 and my teacher questioned my capability. I've been addicted to the series ever since and I loved the festiveness of this edition.  Film: Midnight at the Magnolia was another timely movie, this time from Boxing Day to the New Year and it was a perfect romance reminder, especially as I was missing my own lover over the holidays.  TV Show: Bridgerton had to have a mention here. I was originally watching it with my mum but she was only able to watch one episode a day and I was quickly obsessed. I’m actually going to do a post next month of the shows I’ve been enjoying becau...

Updated Content Schedule

Image
It's a new month and after last month's successful completion of my January challenge , where I posted every day, I thought I'd give a little update of what my blogging schedule will be going forward. I am so proud that I continued to produce quality content throughout January, especially with everything going on in the nation, with lockdown 3.0, starting a new job and personal difficulties. I really enjoyed writing and sharing some more detailed and personal posts, because it's been a while since I wrote that sort of content.  Of course, some of those posts were the start of some mini series which I will continue to talk about, especially my health and well-being journey and thanks to the positive feedback, Covid-19 date night/relationship activities!  Generally, I will continue to post 4 times a week. Monday will continue to be "Midwifery Mondays", however given that I have now finished university, this content may change a little to be more focussed on wome...

Sleep Struggles and How to Overcome Them!

Image
I don't know it it's the fact that it's been Christmas or simply because of the pandemic, but since early December, I really struggled to sleep. Throughout the festive season, I got into bad habits. Late nights, constant snacking and watching television in bed, meant that at times I wasn't going to bed until the early hours of the morning. It didn't help that I would then stay up on my screens for hours, and have more snacks in between brushing my teeth and laying down. I would also sneak a glass of Diet Coke, which was terrible!  The first step was to get rid of bad habits, starting with food and drink. Now that I'm settled back in Nottingham, I don't have food or drink (bar water) in the bedroom. I try to stop eating my 8pm, however this can be difficult with the work I do, as sometimes, I don't actually get home until 8pm and then I have to eat. Obviously, meals out are slightly different, but at the moment we can't do those anyway.  Similarly, th...
