Bloom & Wild: January 2023 (Review)

Image
For Christmas, I asked for a postal flower service subscription. My mum ended up buying me an annual pass which means I get 12 bouquets this year and I am completely in love. She ended up choosing Bloom & Wild to buy them through, so I thought it would be nice to share the bouquet I receive each month. January is a little different, because I received 2 bouquet's and of course, it's a little belated with all the Christmas and New Year posts shared at the start of the year.  The boxes that the flowers are delivered in is long, but slim meaning it can be posted through the letterbox for delivery which is always great because you don't have to be in for delivery or miss it. They are pretty secure packages, made with fully recycled material, but unfortunately, my first box did arrive slightly damaged.  Inside, the box contains a gift card as mine was a gift subscription, and a booklet on the exact flowers in the bouquet, including all how to care for instructions. The flow...

Novotel Krakow Centrum Hotel (Review)

Image
When I recently went to Krakow in Poland, I had a number of criteria I wanted from the hotel. I wanted it to be within walking distance to the city centre, breakfast to be included and for it to have both a spa and a swimming pool. Looking back, I probably only really needed the first, but nevertheless, I ended up booking the Novotel Krakow Centrum. It was beautiful. The hotel was lovely. The staff were so kind and accommodating throughout. I checked in online and was told I wouldn't be able to get into the room until 3pm. When I arrived just before 1pm, I went to the desk and immediately was given access to the room which was perfect. I went up to the room and it was beautiful. Some reviews said it was dated but it absolutely wasn't. I couldn't have asked for a nicer, more spacious and modern area. The only downside was the view out the window, which looked out on a courtyard of hotels and a petrol station.  I then went down to the restaurant and the meal was amazing. The ...

My Second Master's Module: "Facilitating Complex Childbirth"

Image
The second module of my Master's degree is another compulsory module and I am so excited. As I knew this time round that the live sessions were going to be run on a Wednesday, when I had my IPR (meeting with my manager at work), I asked for Wednesday's to be a set day off for the next year or so, in order to enable me to have the flexibility to attend the plenary sessions and join in the conversations.  There are so many topics that aren't taught at undergraduate level studies, and I do get it, because the topic and range of topics is so broad and constantly expanding, but it's hard to accept that when knowledge can be so crucially important. So much of midwifery is taught on the job and as part of the clinical environment. Many of which is simply because of watching colleagues and mentors and learning through them. However, being able to spend time going through the most common or most important ones is really interesting. At the moment, each week we are looking at dif...

DITL: Driving Home, Unboxing Packages and Naming Ceremony!

Image
After shortening my city break, I had a busy Friday driving everywhere and anywhere and ended with a naming ceremony.  Click  here  to watch the vlog or see below.  After arriving back from Poland in the early hours of the morning, I had a lovely lie in before packing up the car and getting ready to leave. I did have some snuggles with the puppies and then spoke to grandma for a bit. She was very interested in Auschwitz so I went through and showed her the pictures of the museum, telling her the stories the guide described.  I called at McDonalds on my way home and made great time, calling at ASDA for my first big grocery shop of the year. I bought some vegetables and fruit, a handful of ready meals, some snacks and crisps and then the essentials of Diet Coke and Ketchup. I also had a £4 voucher to spend on chocolate so I picked up some bits too.  I also had a bunch of packages to unbox. The first was some beautiful flowers. These aren't the typical type I ...

Exploring Krakow, Jewish Quarters and Worst Turbulence! / Poland 2023

Image
For my last day in Poland, my Segway Tour got cancelled so I walked around Krakow and then had a terrible flight home.  Click  here  to watch the vlog or see below.  I had a lovely lie in until 9am and actually slept through a couple of alarms which was a little surprising. I ended up having a lovely relaxing breakfast. It was nice not to have to rush. Then I watched some television and YouTube whilst I slowly packed up my suitcase to check out. I actually watch She-Hulk on my phone as my cousin shared her account with me and I loved the entire show. It was a slight shame that I had to watch on my phone but it was great. I ended up checking out just in time, as two entire teams of handball players arrived just as I was leaving. For once, the weather outside was actually nice. There wasn't a rain cloud in sight and the sun was shining. I massively regretted bringing my coat and scarf and had to carry them for the first half of it. I started by walking up the river and...

Shepherd's Hut, Zakopane Snow and Thermal Baths! / Poland 2023

Image
My second booked day trip was to the mountains. We had a couple stops on the way and then finally enjoyed the thermal baths.  Click  here  to watch the vlog or see below.  Another day and another early start, this time for a little happier of a trip. It was up to to mountains for a little bit of a snowy adventure. After breakfast, I got picked up and we headed up towards some Shepherd's Hut. We had a mini stop at a car garage before getting there and when we arrived everyone got sheep cheese and cherry vodka to try. I loved seeing all the snow everywhere and I just wish I'd managed to get there before Christmas because it would have really put me in a Christmas spirit.  After there, we headed to Zakopane which was the main goal of the day. I was quite surprised to discover we only had 2 hours there which didn't seem nearly enough time. I headed straight up on the cable car. It was a snowy, winter wonderland and it was beautiful. It was so peaceful and I was alon...
