Holiday Clothing Haul (USA and Canada 2024)
I'm not very confident in my body at the moment and as long-time followers will I've struggled with this concept for a long time but it's come back with a vengeance over the summer especially as I've been very inactive between summer plans, writing my master's dissertation and being unwell. All that being said, I started to try on my holiday clothes wardrobe and I felt terrible in them all. I've been trying to save money, but ultimately I decided I needed to feel comfortable on my travels and of course, it would be nice to have some new clothes. It's been a while, but I did a little try on in the vlog. You'll have to ignore my face as I was still a little unwell and pale!
The main priorities were a couple of outfits I needed for some themed cruise events I needed a tropical night outfit and a rock night outfit. I bought three options for the tropical theme and instantly loved them all. In the end I decided to keep just two of them. The first green leaf pattern I knew I had to keep because I felt beautiful in it and it felt really flattering. It was also my first high slit! The second evening option, I did really like but I didn't need to keep both and the other was just preferred. I also bought a day dress in a very similar pattern that I thought would be really cute to wear on the beach in Hawaii.
Rock night ended up being a lot harder. I couldn't find anything that I felt fit the theme or was comfortable. I first bought some leather leggings and then it was trying to find either a baggy graphic band tea but I couldn't find anything that suited. I tried a sparkly cami but didn't love the strappy nature so then tried to find a sparkly red number and came across this red tunic top which I thought would work with a red lip!
I actually bought one of these dresses a few months ago but I loved it so much that I ended up buying it in two extra colours. I now have it in a green pattern, hot pink and black and white floral.
The main thing I needed was some new holiday trousers as none of them fit. I ended up finding a couple of three-quarter linen trousers which were so, so comfy - black and cream - and then I also bought some knee length denim shorts. I loved how stretchy these were. I did try to find some new shorts but was a little unsuccessful on that front. I tried denim blue and linen styles but neither option was successful.
At the same time I wanted to find some new comfy tops. I've relatively recently bought I few new items for the English summer and have really enjoyed wearing tunics or dress with cycling shorts. My favourite has been a frill top which I bought in 3 colours! I tried on some baggy t-shirts but they were huge and even when bought 2 sizes smaller, still looked horrendous. I also tried on some sleeveless patterned tops which I liked the pattern of, but didn't enjoy the neckline piece. I ended up finding two great options which I loved from the same brand, one with sleeves and one without. I loved the loose fitting and longer front and back style, but wish they came in different patterns and not block colours.
Finally, I thought I could also be one the cool people and try to travel in style and comfort for once. I bought a couple of different matching joggers and tracksuit sets. A few were really thick which were great but unfortunately, defintely would not fit in my suitcase. In the end, I decided to keep these two. One was a lightweight matching black set which I thought would be perfect for the two long haul flights. The second green set was a little more casual than I had anticipated but was so comfy. I was going to return it as not fit for purpose but for only £14 I decided to keep it as my last pair of pyjamas for the holiday! On the same wavelength, I managed to shrink my trainers in the washing machine a few months ago so they were very tight and therefore I needed some new ones for a couple of trips and mainly for travel. I bought a few options but the Sketchers were a clear winner!
Of course, as with all try ons, there are a lot of clothes that end up getting returned...at least that's what happens in my case. Most of them I didn't take pictures of, but I was really torn with this blue maxi dress. It was so comfortable and easy to wear, I just ultimately found it a little boring and didn't have a need for it.
Here's to comfort and style! Next year, I really need to get back to my fitness and weight loss journey hopefully, and of course, going through the wardrobes. I'll talk more about that soon.
