Mary Poppins Returns (Review)

Image
I went to see the anticipated Mary Poppins sequel, Mary Poppins Returns, on opening week and here's some quick thoughts! Click here to watch the trailer or see below. I loved Mary Poppins as a child and the songs were always so catchy. I originally thought that it was a remake of the film and after a conversation with my uncle, I quickly realised it was actually a sequel. I didn't watch the trailer because I wanted it to be a surprise but I was eager to see how the film followed. Interestingly, the film picks up years later with the Banks family once again. Of course, Mary Poppins is ageless - this time played by Emily Blunt (with a very strong British accent) - and instead of being a nanny to Michael and Jane, looks after Michael's three children instead. Likewise, the film stays true to the original design. The graphics are very similar to the first film, but with slightly more inventive creativity. Similarly, the chimney sweepers are replaced with leeries (la...

What I got for Christmas 2018!

Image
It's become tradition to share what I got for Christmas each year and now that we're in the New Year, Christmas already feels so long ago, but here goes!  I can't even begin to show how much chocolate I have. This will last me for forever and by the time I'd taken this photo, I'd already given away the chocolate I didn't like! It's not just chocolate though, there's also Diet Coke, Pringles and Pigs in Blanket Crisps.   From my dad's girlfriend,  got the softest blush hot water bottle!  In terms of beauty, I got a The Body Shop Banana Hair Mask, a Lush bath bomb, a sponge with aromatherapy infused for exfoliation, a nail buffer set of files and a foot peel.  My mum got these Space Masks for each of us. Supposedly, you were them 15 minutes before bed and they help you fall asleep faster. They also heat up gradually which is for relaxation.  How cute are these little Santa earrings! I got not one, but two(!) baking sets this year....

Presents, Food and Games - Christmas 2018!

Image
Christmas is finally here! Watch me celebrate Christmas Day and enjoy a fancy Boxing Day meal! Click here for the vlog or see below.  If you watched my Christmas Eve vlog, you probably saw me a little emotional and it was a hard day. Having your family open Christmas presents without you is tough! I know Christmas isn't actually about presents but it's a huge part of the memories. Anyway, I woke up excited to open presents but mum said she would open them with me, but on her schedule, so instead I got dressed and ready first.  I chose an older dress that I actually bought for my cousin's birthday, a few years ago now. I usually curl my hair for Christmas but instead, I thought I would french plait it for a change and went for more natural looking curls. I also treated myself to a new LipSense colour - somewhat unplanned - to match my dress, in Sheer Berry.  It wasn't too long once I was ready that we could open presents. Mum and Jess had even saved th...

Desserts, Friend Date and Christmas Eve!

Image
I just about made it back to Coventry safe and sound, headed to the most amazing deserts bar and then headed home. The next day I met up with Hannah, my best childhood friend, and then I celebrated Christmas Eve.  Click here for the vlog or watch below.  I had the worst night's sleep on the couch from hell. It was so uncomfortable and despite everyone telling me it was SO comfy, I barely got any sleep. As my cousin and her flatmates left for Christmas I just about managed to sleep through the noise and then I must have muted my alarm because I woke up super late. I had just about 30 minutes to get ready and pack, before having to get the tube. It was not the calm morning I had planned, and I defintely did not have time to stop at Gregg's for a bacon sandwich.  Nevertheless, I raced through Euston with two minutes spare only to discover the train had been cancelled. Luckily, it was a Saturday and all the trains were classed as off-peak so I could get on the ...
