Travel Wall Reveal!

Image
It's taken a little while to decide what to do with this blank wall above my second sofa, but once I had a vision it took even longer to try and make it happen. I love travelling and with single-life, it's become even more important to me to make the most and take advantage of the opportunity to go abroad whilst I have the chance.  I've had a scratch map for a number of years, after asking for it for one of my birthdays I think. It's been missing since the renovations my mum did back during the first lockdown when we had a bit of a house flood, but I found it a few months ago, and so I bought a frame to finally hang it. It's not perfect by any means, just a cheap one from Amazon, but one that would be easy enough to take down when updating the countries I've visited.  I fell in love with Knitte after the relationship we developed through designing my dream catcher . I asked her to make me a custom piece to go over the gap that was made at the top of map. Unfortu...

Finding the Best Postal Brownies!

Image
If you know me, you know I love brownies. In fact, it's one of my go-to desserts at most restaurants. On one trip, I had a different brownies every day for 4 days and it was great. Well, this year, in the last few months I've had four different postal brownie orders and I've been loving trying them all.  I got one set as a gift for my birthday from my best friend from a company I hadn't personally heard of before: The Savvy Baker . I really loved the packaging and it was very fun to open. Unlike other brands, I get the feel the company is much smaller, baking on a much smaller scale and therefore hasn't quite got the mechanics in place to expand fully at present. It's the only brand where the brownies came packaged together, which is good from an environment perspective, but not so much for a allergen or storage view. I will say these brownies are good, very soft and squishy, and I was even looking at ordering some for myself but the downside is that it is a ran...

My Third Master's Module "Professional Midwifery Advocate Preparation" Review

Image
The Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) module was very different to what I was originally expecting. I thought it would be all about being a PMA and the face-to-face role involved with supporting staff, but instead it was very much focussed on personal development which having now gone through the entire course, is actually very enlightening and I can see how the two tie together. I hadn't realised how much a PMA was required to be a leader, manager and researcher.  Course content was very varied. Each week involved a live session and variety of different online learning through reading, research, videos and images. There weren't any podcasts recommended in this module but there were a lot of TED TALKS utilised. I really enjoyed the online learning and the depth that was involved, however, it was a little confused.  It was the first time the module was combined with both midwives and nurses, and whilst this sounds great in practice, unfortunately there was only one nurse, w...

1 Year Since Moving In (Buying my First House)

Image
Tomorrow marks 1 year of moving into my first ever house. I am having a very belated mini house warming party with my cousin's on Sunday and I cannot wait. As most of you will probably know, the last year has possibly been the most difficult year of my life and having this house has probably been one of the biggest causes of that pain in a way.  Before I even got into a relationship, I'd always planned to buy a house the year after I qualified, which would be January 2022. I qualified in January 2021 and always planned on starting to look the next year. He was already looking before we started dating, so I agreed that if he'd bought a house beforehand, I would move in with him, which we were both happy with. Unfortunately, he didn't buy a house in those 3 years and when I stuck to my word, he was hurt. He wanted to be the one to buy a house, but wouldn't commit to me enough to buy a house together, so when I followed through on my promise, he made the whole process ...

Smol: Non-Bio Laundry Tablets (Review)

Image
As a lot of you will know, I've been a long-time customer of Smol for over 3 years now. They have been the only laundry product I have used for that entire duration and I've also tried many of their other products too. A few months ago, I decided to branch out a little and instead of continuing to use their Bio option, I ordered the new Non-Bio Fragrance-Free option. This is an alternative to their non-bio and bio options.  It wasn't until using Smol that I learnt that the pod should actually go in the washing machine first and then place the clothes on top for the best washing results. On top of tips, Smol is also an incredible company. Their products are cruelty-free, Leaping Bunny approved and free from animal-derived ingredients. They use 100% plastic-free packaging and fewer chemicals for sustainability; a unique packaging ensures a fully child-safe mechanism remains in place. This means that the box fits easily through the letterbox, and takes up very little storage, ...

My Third Master's Module "Professional Midwifery Advocate Preparation"

Image
I actually started my third master's module back at the start of May, even doing some preliminary reading in April, however it's been a busy few months and so I'm only now getting around to writing it. I did draft some initial thoughts prior to starting, so this is more so explaining what the module is about and what I was expecting before starting.  My third and final module of the first year of my Master's degree was an optional module, the one and only optional module of the year. There were a lot of options available to select from, with some being in person and some being online. Despite being a distance learner, I was still allowed to pick any of the options, but would be require to attend face to face sessions in Cambridge. The options were: Advanced Non-Medical Prescribing Applied Leadership and Management Care of the Critically Unwell Woman Contemporary UK Healthcare Practice Safeguarding: A Collaborative Approach Specialist Techniques for Medical and Healthcar...

New Home Decor from In Other Words Design (Review)

Image
12 weeks from the original order date, I have finally received my products I purchased from a small business I have loved over the years . I have ordered from In Other Words Design and have always had a great experience. I love the quality of the products and the range on offer. I ordered this time expecting no different and I'll be honest, I was a little disappointed.  I was originally told the turnaround for 8 weeks and when that time elapsed I was starting to get concerned. I also messaged regarding another order I wanted to place, that would be a custom piece. I was really excited to discuss it and find the best option going forward, that worked for both of us. Each time I messaged, she would say "I'll reply tomorrow" or "I'll reply later". Clearly the business owner is very busy and trying her best, but I felt the customer service was really poor and it made me feel really unwanted and hurt, every time I didn't get a response. I had to keep rem...
