My First Year of Postgraduate Studies

Image
I am genuinely shocked by how quickly the last year has flown by. Whilst yes it has been full of ups and downs, the university year has gone very quickly. I have really enjoyed all the challenges, discussions and lessons whilst completing my Master's degree and I am now half way through with just one year left to finish. I am currently well on my way to passing, although quite far off my original goal to achieve the highest award level.  I'm currently on summer break and it's definitely weird to have a normal university term time to follow for once. It has been refreshing to have a little break away from the weekly online learning and whilst I haven't completely not been doing university work, it's been much more chilled and relaxed. As I got an extension for part of my last module assessment, I have been doing a little bit of that alongside, with a few meetings in between my normal shifts allocated.  I thought it would be good to share all my first year posts in o...

A Week of Annual Leave!

I'm taking a little break off this week so I won't be posting for the next few days. Come back next Monday for the newest content, but don't forget to catch up on all the recently posted writings!

Pamper Me, Tepee Wedding and Musical Theatre!

With an unexpected bonus week off, without annual leave, I headed back to Wakefield to enjoy some family time over the bank holiday and a friends wedding.  Click here to watch the vlog or see below.  After 2 day shifts and 5 night shifts in the space of 8 days, I was well and truly ready for a break. With the set of shifts I'd been allocated, I ended up having a week off, without needing to take any annual leave. That is one huge benefit of working 12.5 hour shifts. My first day was spent in Nottingham. I went to the salon to have my nails done. It was £25 for both file and polish on fingers and toes as it was a trainee, which was exactly what what I needed, as I could only have my nails painted for the week I was off. I chose a lovely mauve pink-purple to match my dress for the wedding the next day.  After writing a week's worth of blog posts and accidently falling asleep, I then packed and started the driving to Wakefield. I called at KFC for tea on the way back and it ...

Repointing my Patio!

Image
I have needed to and wanted to repoint my patio since I first moved in. There have been some gapes in the grouting, alongside lots of weeds and some wobbly paving slabs. I had it jet washed a few months earlier and it looks lovely and clean, but destroyed the grouting even more. There were lots of spaces missing completely and others that were still intact.  I had originally organised for a contractor to come out, but then he injured himself so there was going to be a huge delay. Another company gave me a very reasonable quote so I booked with them and waited in from 8am until 1pm for them to arrive. I ended up ringing another contact number I found, only to hear they were in Butlins and hadn't "added it to the diary". In the end, it was rescheduled for the following week, when I wasn't really around.  I originally selected Stone Grey for the grout colour, only to find it wasn't in stock so instead Basalt was selected. It's not quite the colour I was originall...

Pretty Little Home: August Subscription Box (Review)

Image
This month, I finally allowed myself to be treated to a beautiful home decor subscription box from Pretty Little Home. I've seen so many of these boxes over this last year and I am always so jealous when I finally see the product reveal but it's too late for me to purchase. I thought with Autumn right around the corner, it was the perfect month to start to subscription and I just hoped I liked the products.  In all honesty, I was expecting to re-gift some of the products which I thought would be great for house warming and Christmas presents. The box arrived right on time, on the date expected and was securely packaged. Each item was individually wrapped and it felt great to have so many little presents to open.  The selection of products was beautiful and I really was so happy to be able to open them. The candles were the only product I probably will re-gift but that's because I don't really like candles in general.  The first item I am so excited about it a little gla...

"Professional Midwifery Advocate Preparation" (Part 1) Assessment Result

Image
I submitted the first part of my assessment for the PMA module a couple of months ago and I actually already have the result back. It came back a lot quicker than expected, but randomly arrived in my inbox. I can't lie, I'm once again a little disappointed in the mark but also confused. I got 55%, which in itself is my lowest mark of the module so far and it is far from my 70% goal which is hard.  The most difficult aspect is that the feedback was actually really positive, whereas previous assessments have been quite critiquing and provided criticism with ways to improve, this one has given me nothing. Repeatedly, the marker writes positively, summarising: "Thank you for submitting this interesting assessment. Please see intext comments and attached feedback. You have met the learning outcomes. Well done."

Auntie Babysitting, Decor Unboxing and Travel Wall!

I had the loveliest week with my almost all my nieces and nephews, plus had some decor updates around the house!  Click  here  to watch the vlog or see below. There is also a bonus video of the kids, which if you know me personally you can see  here .  After spending the first half of the week with my two oldest nieces and nephews , I then spent the end of the week with my littlest nephew. It was almost the perfect week. My cousin had a work training course, so she came over for a little while beforehand to help with hanging some decor, however her son wasn't having any of it, so instead we just talked and played.  She left around 12.30pm and then it was just the two of us for the first time ever and I had an absolute blast. First of all, we ate lunch. He'd had a few snacks prior, but then ate about half his ham and cheese toastie, all his banana and some little melt sticks. Then we played for about 20 minutes, before having a bottle. I'd made up 120mls, bu...
