The Lion King (Review)

I am absolutely loving all the Disney remakes recently and next up is The Lion King. Click here to watch the trailer or see below.
As a fan of the original Lion King, I was incredibly excited to see this film and luckily on a rainy afternoon, I managed to convince my amazing boyfriend and couple friends to go on a double date to see it. I am so glad I did.
I think all the voices were amazing. I love when you can hear who plays each character and that was defintely true for this film. It was beautiful to watch the cubs develop into adults and while the voices changed, I think the producers selected great individuals for the young and mature voices respectively.
I loved how they stayed true to the story. While I've heard a lot of complaints that things were too same-y or things were different from the original, I chose to look at it as a new movie. While the story is the same, I loved the slight differences, but I also love the momentum to the original. I think it was a great compromise and balance between the two.
Importantly, the songs were outstanding. I may have spoilt it a little for myself by listening to the soundtrack prior to seeing the film but I think all the songs were incredible. Of course, my favourites were Hakuna Matata and when Nala and Simba finally reunite.
I think it's safe to say the entire graphics team did a phenomenal job. The animals looked realistic and life-like in a non-intimidating manner. It's a great opportunity to educate children about the variety of animals and their characteristics, which I think were captured perfectly.
And just as it started, the film closes with the most incredible scene once again. All the wildlife gather below pride rock with balance restored and the new generation beginning.
I loved the film and I can't wait to watch it again and again.
