Empty House Tour, Building Furniture and Settling In!

This week was all about moving house, building furniture and making it home!

After a few days visiting family, I headed to the estate agents to pick up the keys and sign the final contracts. Sadly, the clips somehow got deleted but it ended up taking a lot longer than I anticipated and it was before my first of two night shifts, so probably not the best time to do it. Nevertheless, I got the keys and headed to the house.

I forgot to take pictures of the actual empty room but I did record a full empty house tour. It was so short, I decided to just keep it in with the vlog instead of making a second video. There were quite a few problems as I was going around so instead of taking full room pictures, I was taking detail pictures so it just slipped my mind in all honesty. Considering I was told I couldn't move in earlier due to a "deep clean", I was very disappointed at how dirty it was, especially the kitchen, but the new carpets were lovely and I liked how they match throughout the house for continuity.

I didn't record much for the next few days. I celebrated my first meal in the house with a Chiquito's takeaway, woke up early after the second night shift and then spent the the rest of the week cleaning, ordering furniture, unpacking the cars, getting orders and building furniture. It was all a bit hectic and chaotic but I love how it is slowly coming together...one room at a time. I will be doing full posts on each room, each aspect etc at some point soon so stay tuned! We also celebrated finishing the bedroom with some cookie dough dessert takeaway, which was scrumpscious and I also really wanted my first Sunday in the house to have a proper roast dinner and it was amazing.

I got some beautiful house warming flowers from my mum. They went perfectly in my pink bedroom but after a few days of letting them bloom, the smell was getting just a little too overwhelming, so they had to be moved down to the unfinished lounge.

The last day I vlogged was when I had to go to Chesterfield for a blood test. On the way back, I headed to the tip to get rid of some of the boxes and packaging. I then got back, picked up some of the last bits of decor and then headed out to the tip for a second and third trip. Finally, the spare bedroom was empty and free of boxes and polysterene!

There's still a lot of work to do but nevertheless, it's getting there. I hope by the end of next week, it will all be done...but that may be hopeful thinking. Luckily, I didn't have too much to move in this time, but now I have lots of furniture, next time I am defintely going to need a "man with a van service".

Since the empty house tour, quite a few little bits of changed, with a new fridge/freezer and a new oven. Both now fit the spaces and are much bigger so it's great! The other bits to be fixed are going to be done in the next 3 weeks after the maintenance man finishes his 2 week isolation period after travelling. I'm also getting the garden re-patioed and a brand new front door!
