A Graduation Memento - Custom Drawing (Review)

A few weeks ago, a friend shared a competition on her stories for the chance to win a personalised custom drawing of my choice. I've been wanting to get a graduation picture of either just me or me and the girls, but I couldn't decide between the two. I never expected to win, but I did and it was perfect timing, just as I was doing up my study. I knew it was meant to be!

Meg from "Megakreations" was absolutely lovely to work with and I'm so thankful. She gave me full free reign of anything I wanted and than every aspect was completely personalised. I decided to get a group graduation picture. I got to pick so many different aspects that I didn’t expect and then she asked for pictures of both the group and individuals to get the correct colourings, heights and lengths. I let her know the order I wanted the girls, hand positioning, leg positioning, colour and type of shoes and of course the gown colours. It turns out when I asked my lecturer that there is no set colour so they change. I ended up going for black and white to make it easier.

I also had the option of writing. I’ll put a few examples of her other commissions below, so you can see the variation. I ended up going for names underneath the girls and then wanted a black banner with white writing, saying “University of Nottingham Midwifery 1801”.

It was a great service and I’m so glad it all worked out so perfectly. My favourite part was how easy she was to talk to. She also gave me little updates throughout drawing so that I could make alterations if I didn’t like bits and bobs. I genuinely absolutely loved following the process and I secretly love the simple sketch style. Meg also gave me the option when it was finished of having it without a shadow, with a proper shadow or with a hazed shadow. I loved all the versions, but went for the cleaner and simpler no shadow look!

As you can see from the first picture, the finished product now has pride of place in my study. I ended up ordering a print copy of it too, so I didn't have the hassle of printing it myself and that way I knew I would guarantee high quality. Plus, it was only £2.99 including postage, which I thought was a great price. I quite liked having it as a digital print as well though because it meant I could make another copy in the future or even print and send to the girls as presents soon. I’m thinking maybe as cards when we eventually have our in-person graduation. I’m hoping for August 2021 still but that may be delayed further!

I absolutely love it though and it's made the perfect additional to my office. The perfect graduation keepsake. Thank you so much Meg
