Colab Dry Shampoo + Extreme Volume (Review) - Influenster VoxBox
It's been a while since I shared an Influenster campaign review on the blog. I've shared about the company before in more detail, but each month they select profiles to review a range of beauty products in exchange for getting the item for free. This box had a dry shampoo product from Colab.
Having used dry shampoo before, I've always leaned towards the well known brand of Batiste. However, I don't love the scent of their products. I hadn't personally heard of Colab until this box so I was very excited to try the product and very impressed to receive not one, but two 200ml bottles of the Dry Shampoo + Extra Volume. The bottle itself is tall and slim. I love the gold and black colour scheme, as it looks beautiful on the side, whilst it can also be stored fairly easily due to the diameter of the bottle. As with all aerosol product, it is a pressurised container so keep away from heat or ignition sources as it may burst.
Described as "instant backcombed volume", it doesn't disappoint and depending on the look you are after, you could defintely get huge volume on top. To use, it says to shake well, hold the can 20cm for dry hair and spray into roots. It then states to tease with fingertips and layer for more product build up, or brush through to finish.
I personally don't like washing my hair regularly. My hair is very thick and because of this, it takes a long time to dry and can be quite the pain. I usually wash every 3 to 4 days, making washing day twice a week. I personally try to organise this around my plans for the week, so if I know that I am wearing my hair down I would wash it the day before, whereas for work, I wouldn't mind it being a little greasy. I tend to use dry shampoo when it gets a little too shiny to be worn down, or I just want some extra volume.
This product is the perfect in between wash solution and it allows me to get away with wearing my hair down for a couple of extra days. It literally absorbs all the oil! I also really like the texture it gives my hair. It makes it really soft. It's also very light, so doesn't feel like I have any product in. It works great to add texture and lift, whilst absorbing oil and refreshing roots.
One of my biggest concerns when it comes to dry shampoo is the white powder residue. This product doesn't leave any! As I was getting ready for my cousin's wedding, I spent about an hour curling my hair and then sprayed what I thought was hair spray. Well...it was this dry shampoo! I panicked and quickly flipped my hair up and down a couple of times. I didn't want to have to rub my hair because it would ruin the curls, and thankfully nothing was left! I couldn't even see it. Instead, it just gave me some lovely beautiful and the curls fell out a little faster.
Like I mentioned previously, I don't love the scent of previous dry shampoo products that I have used. The dry shampoo is surprisingly fresh and clean. It's not overpowering and it doesn't last, so it's really nice. The spray also works well and distributes evenly. You don't have to worry about it being too concentrated, as it's quite forgiving. Having really enjoyed it, I thought I would look up the price because I thought it may be on the higher end, but it retails for around £4, making it a perfectly affordable dry shampoo option.
Overall, I loved this product. It's affordable, stylish and very effective. A little goes a long way, so use sparingly and if you want to get free beauty products yourself, you can sign up to Influenster and join the programme yourself, here.
