It’s Christmas, Hello December

I can't quite believe it's the last month of the year. This year has been full of ups and downs, but I promise, December is going to be the month for me. I want it to be filled with peace and joy and focus on family. I have so many plans and incredibly, all my December off duty requests were approved, which makes me so excited for the Christmas season.

This week I have a couple of night shifts left and then I am heading to my mum's for the first Christmas celebrations. We have a family buffet planned at her house on Sunday and it will be nice to catch up with everyone. It will also be the first time my grandma meets her first great grandchild which will be so cute. I can't wait for hopefully some more baby snuggles, but I'm sure everyone will want a squeeze too.

The week after I have my first two day shifts in over a month, which feels quite odd, but I'm grateful that I will hopefully be able to regulate sleep a little better. On Friday, I'm heading to Hertfordshire to see my sisters. We're spending one day with each and I get to see my second oldest sister's new house for the first time, as well as her new puppy.

The weekend after I have 2 work Christmas parties, as well as some property work during the week and a visit from my dad to help put up a stud wall which is exciting and will be good to finally see some pretty physical changes to the utility room.

Finally, I have 2 night shifts the week of Christmas, before having 8 days off and I cannot wait to be able to celebrate Christmas properly for the first time in 3 years. It will be such a great experience to be with family and share the Christmas celebrations again. It does make me a little sad that Luke and I aren't together anymore, because this was suppose to be our first Christmas celebrating together, and realistically, it's probably my last one off for 3 years - unless I get extra lucky - so maybe my last one before I have children of my own.

I'm ending the year working New Year's Eve, although I am on a day shift and my cousin lives on the way back from work, so the current plan is to stop by her's on the way home for a few hours which should be a nice welcome to the New Year, before heading to bed.

What are your December plans? What are you most excited for?
