Favourite Must-Have Purchases of the Year: Home, Style, Toiletries
With starting the new year and I thought I would share some of my favourite home purchases this year. I have loved this bobble remover for fabric, which I originally saw all over TikTok. Some of my favourite bedsheets were covered and instead of throwing them away or struggling to sleep, I bought this and had 10 minutes of rubbing it whilst watching television and it was like new!
If you've seen my house tour, you'll know that I have Oak Worktops in the kitchen which is my worst nightmare. As they are so sensitive, I feel like I can't clean them properly but I found an Anti-Bac spray I could actually use on the surface and it makes me feel so much better to prepare food, knowing the germs are gone.
Another, is moss and weed killer for my lawn. My front lawn is turf but absolutely cover in weeds, to the point where I couldn't even attempt to start picking them. I bought this and it did exactly what it said on the box. It was so easy to use and the weeds went black and started dying within the week. It did leave some areas of the grass patchy, but then I just used some grass seed and it's already started to come back now and look a million times better than before.
Moving on to toiletries or beauty products, my all time new favourite product is this Heel Repair Stick. I have really dry and hard, thick skin on my heels as a thanks to being on my feet for 12 and a half hours a shift. I also hate the feel of moisturiser on my hands, so this stick is the perfect solution. It's not the thickest solution but it's smooth, cooling and absorbs quickly. It also means I can let it sit properly without having to rub it off quickly afterwards.
On a similar wavelength, I have had my cuticle oil for about 10 years - no joke! - and ran out at the end of the last year. I've noticed a real difference to my nails and toe nails as they are really dry, so I tried a couple of different cuticle oils and ended up loving these ones. Just like my old one, it's a pen where you twist the tube and brush it directly onto the cuticles and surrounding skin. You then gently massage to encourage absorption and stimulate blood flow. The benefits of this one is that it smells amazing. They have lots of different options but I chose the lemon and orange which is perfect. They're not super strong but nice and simple.
Dot for Spots are one of my long-time favourite products are these little dots for the skin where you can apply overnight and it reduces them significantly. I found some giant one which worked great when I had an angry area one week.
For clothing, I bought a new set of Black Leggings in a three pack. These are honestly the best leggings I own. They're thick, soft and high quality material. I love that they're not see-through and they're really comfortable. They're literally the only leggings I wear!
Finally, I ended up having a period after being poorly for a few days, causing me to miss taking my contraceptive pill and also it probably wasn't as effective given the circumstances. Well I haven't had a period for over a year so I don't have pads in the house anymore. I overnighted some reusable period pads and they worked perfectly. I actually wasn't convinced at the idea of them but I thought I would try and it was great. They are a little thicker than normal underwear but not noticeable under clothing. They are really soft and comfortable, plus wash and dry well too. I'm glad I have these in, for emergencies in the future.
I was really trying to be on a budget, so you can see how well that went. Nevertheless, have you purchased anything this year that's now a must have? This year, I'm making it a goal to have a minimal spend year so I'm going to try not to buy things without really considering if I need them. Wish me luck!
