My Boudoir Photoshoot Experience - Part 1 (Review)
I always loved the idea of doing a boudoir photoshoot, mainly for my own self-love but I'd originally planned to make and create a book to give to my groom on our wedding day as a present. Unfortunately, when we broke up, I knew that wasn't going to be the case, so instead I decided to do it for my 30th birthday...or at least that was the plan. Last summer, I seemingly entered a competition to win one and I apparently won. The company said they'd been trying to reach me for months, so when they finally got in touch in December, I decided to get it booked in as soon as possible so I didn't loose the courage in the build up. To be honest, I was shocked they had availability before Christmas, so I ended up booking it with about a week to go.
I won a free photoshoot experience which included a welcome drink on arrival, makeover including hair with a makeup artist, the photoshoot with a female photographer, afternoon tea and image viewing. The whole experience, I was advised would last 4 hours.
The company was incredible and very personal. They contacted me multiple times to discuss the photoshoot, arrange an appropriate time and date, and answer any questions. I think I had 3 phone calls to discuss the photoshoot and then also a number of emails, one of which containing a guide. The guide was really useful to set expectations, ensure all items needed were brought on the day, a to do list and outfit inspiration, including hair, makeup, shoes and clothing.
Of course, with just a week to find the outfits I bought tens and tens from both Amazon and M+S because I could get them both delivered with next day delivery and free returns. I spent £600 originally, but returned the majority. I was asked to bring 3 outfits on the day, but brought 4 with me, and only ended up using 2. These 4 were all less than £40 each. I ended up choosing a satin pyjama set, a santa dress, a purple lace bodysuit and a black and red bra and pants set. It was the latter two I used for the photoshoot.
On arrival, I was sent straight through to hair and makeup. I unfortunately didn't end up getting a welcome drink which was really my only complaint on the whole. I was told to arrive 15 minutes early for my appointment at 10am, but ended up arriving only 10 minutes early, so I'm not sure if that was the reason but it would have been nice to have been offered a prosecco as promised, even if I only would have had a water or juice.
The makeup artist was lovely. She worked really quickly and my hair looked truly stunning. I was so impressed! She curled my hair first, then let it sit whilst she did my makeup. The only guidance I really gave her was that I wanted a soft, warm smokey eye, with a neutral lip colour to match all my outfits. When she brushed out my curls I was in awe. I think it was the best my hair had ever looked!
