Cirque du Soleil: Mystere Las Vegas (Review)

I always wanted to go to an iconic Las Vegas show and whilst I would have loved to attend a Vegas headline celebrity residency, the price of those were absolutely extortionate. I ended up searching last minute and found a number of shows that were discounted. It was still expensive but I found almost front row seats for less than £70 which I thought was quite a good deal in comparison to the RRP and other shows. I ended up buying them through Spotlight Vegas and the tickets were delivered digitally immediately.

Mystère is one of six resident Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is held in a custom theatre at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, and after being first performed in 1993 on Christmas Day, it is the company's longest running show. It features a mixture of circus skills, dance, elaborate sets, opera, worldbeat music, and street theatre-style comedy.
I was a little confused at the initial announcement so I didn’t record or take pictures during the show but others definitely did. Then I asked before leaving, employees said that you were actually allowed and encouraged to take still images but not meant to take videos. I somewhat regret not getting my camera out, but I also think images wouldn’t have been able to capture the incredibility of the shows epic acts.

Overall, I did enjoy the show, however it wasn’t what I was expecting. Having said that, I didn’t do much research before. I feel that the acts were incredible in themselves and the filler comedic components ruined it for me. I also think at times there was too much going on, so it was difficult to focus and enjoy the individuals on stage. I would have personally preferred either a slightly shorter show with less filler, or for the main acts to be more spread out and interspersed better throughout.
