Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino (Review)

Las Vegas hotels are wild and crazy and over the top in every way possible. I wanted to be staying on the Las Vegas strip, but also not spending a huge amount of money. I ended up choosing the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. It is owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment now, including a huge casino and is a 28-story hotel with 3,460 rooms. It sounds huge, and it is, but it's also one of the smallest in the area.

The part that sold it to me was that a portion of this property was redeveloped to be a huge pool area, accompanied by an animal habitat which includes flamingos. Sadly, I was so disappointed to walk into the hotel and see that this area had been closed to be renovated. I had had no pre-warning, no discount added and nothing to say sorry. They did still have their small family pool available but it was packed the 2 days I visited.

The room itself was lovely. I got 2 Queen Sized beds, lots of floor space, with a clean and tidy space. There was a large wardrobe, chest of drawers and desk area as well. My view backed onto the back of hotels, but I could see a small water fountain which was nice.

The bathroom was also large and spacious. There was both a bath and a shower. However, the shower didn't work properly and one of the knobs had broken off so it spurted cold water at you. Whilst, the bath didn't give hot water just mildly warm, and it was quite a shallow tub in depth. The sink and mirror area was great though, I loved the storage space and the added bonus was the television.

My biggest disappointment was not the hotel itself, because ultimately, the hotel was fine, but the service was shocking. Checking in I was told I would have early check in, then I was told I had to pay for it, then it wasn't available even after I paid for it and then I had to return to check multiple times before a room was finally available. To top it off, they made you tick a check box to ask for room service, then ask you again with the receptionist and then still don't come to service the room, unless you ring before 9am every day you want your room serviced, which they never told me about!

I loved the idea behind the hotel, I loved the space area / location and I loved the nature reserve, but I would never recommend booking this hotel again.
