Belly Flops, Cruise Entertainment and Hilarious Interaction! / USA and Canada 2024

With 6 days at sea in total, the main bulk was spent relaxing and getting involved in all the activities and shows!

With so many consecutive sea days, I was feeling quite claustrophobic at times, despite the big ship and huge amount of activities. Every day I would wake up early, go to aqua aerobics, then breakfast, then the puzzle of the day, then the quiz. I would then head to the pool to sunbathe and relax and swim, before making my way to the buffet lunch, doing some activity in the afternoon, getting ready for the evening and then eat and watch the entertainment.

The fourth day on the ship was defintely the sunniest and I loved feeling the warmth on my skin finally. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a sunbed by the adult pool, so I started on the edges but was in the shade, so I was really quite cold.

I then moved outside to the outdoor pool. It was lovely when the sun was shining, but at times it was so breezy so I had to rent a blanket to keep warm in the wind.
Another day, another towel animal and probably my favourite...an elephant! The evening show was an older gentleman who sang and played the guitar. He was good for what he was but not really my cup of tea and therefore I didn't enjoy much of it. Unfortunately, I was right at the front so I also couldn't really leave and sneak out.
I had however booked to go to the other cruise ship show that evening, Spectra's Cabaret. This was a separate show on twice each night at sea on the cruise and required booking, whereas all the other shows were first come, first seated priority. It was defintely more so of a show standard that I was expecting, and geared more towards the younger generation, however even I felt that at times there was too much going on to fully take it all in which was a shame. I feel like if I'd been able to book for other days, I could have gone every night and it would have felt like a new show each time.
A repeat of the morning was followed by snacking on food from the "Fish and Ships" restaurant instead of the buffet for a little try. It was not the best food but nice to eat in front of the pool for a change. It was hilarious watching the ever famous belly flop competition and whilst I didn't agree with the chosen winner, I did think he seemed a really nice man so I was pleased for him.
By the afternoon, it became very overcast and dreary. Someone had vomited inside the children's family pool so they drained the whole pool and slowly started to refill it. I headed on a little walk around the ship before heading back to the cabin a little early to get ready for the evening.
There was no big show on in the evening, so instead the big evening show was "Love and Marriage". I headed to a Family Fortunes show first and then the pre-entertainment was just utterly hilarious with 3 larger men taught to do ballet by a "mime" presenter. It was great. The "Love and Marriage" part was okay but I did feel it was a disappointing mix. The honeymoon couple had got married on the ship, but had been together since 2004 I think. The middle married couple had only met each other a few years prior and got married within 6 months of meeting. The oldest couple had been together 60+ years and were so sweet, but scored badly because lots of questions were about memories and dates, rather than who's who.
The next day was fairly similar, ended with a show from an impressionist. Again, I'm sure he is very good, but a lot of it went over by head. A lot of it was American based therefore I didn't know the people he was impersonating and the guy himself was just not fun to watch. There were parts that were good, like the singing and changing not only song, but singing tone and performance mannerisms was very clever.
Afterwards, I headed to the other show area and there was a Finish the Lyrics war game, where they had to run to the microphone. I met a couple who were also from Wakefield so it was funny to speak to them. I was actually feeling a little brighter by the end of the day. The distraction and interaction defintely helped take my mind of things.
