My New 2020 Skincare Routine!
It has been a long time since I've shared my skincare routine and a lot has changed. Since I've recently shared my acne journey, I thought I would share an updated version and I also contribute my improved skin down to the skincare I now regularly commit to. I'm going to mainly be talking here about my night time routine because I'll be honest, I don't do a whole much for skincare in the morning and I plan on doing a daily makeup post soon to talk about that!
Disclaimer: a lot of the products I use are from the Senegence range which I sell but I truly do stand by these products and therefore I am sharing them. I also wouldn't use them daily if I didn't. My skin has been through a lot so I like to look after it to the best of my ability. If you want to buy or try any of the products, please do let me know.
I start off by removing my makeup. I usually wear LipSense so I first of all put on my Ooops! Remover to break down the colour. I let it sit for a couple of minutes whilst I get changed into my pyjama's and then I use a makeup eraser to remove both my lip colour and the rest of my makeup. I've sworn by this product since I was first introduced to it and it is honestly my favourite. It's the softest flannel and I love that it just uses water. My oldest sister also recently pointed out that it doesn't so crunchy when dry, which is so beneficial and less harsh on the skin.
From there, I use my cleanser to wash my face. I love a foaming cleanser but I also love the benefits with the Senegence SeneDerm 3-in-1 Cleanser, in which I get the Normal-to-Oily skin type. These are formulated to cleanse, tone and exfoliate in one easy step, however I do then like to remove with a flannel if not in the shower because of the grittiness of the product. Due to that reason, I tend to use it only in the morning or on nights I wash my hair. When I'm washing my face at the sink, I use a foaming cleanser. My all time favourite and the one I recommend is the Clinique Anti-Blemish Foaming Face Wash. I absolutely love this one and have used it for going on 6 years but it is expensive. I did buy a cheap alternative over lockdown, which is close but not my favourite. This was the Simple Foaming Face Wash. It's just a much thinner product and so you need about double, although I do think it's fine.
After that, I pat dry my face before putting on three products. I know you might think this is high maintenance and so did I at one point but now I love it. Also, if you're anything like me you like to save time, so I actually mix the first two products together to save time. I first of all put a pump of SeneSerum-C and a spray of Climate Control in my palm and mix, then dab onto my face. SeneSerum-C is activated vitamin C and helps brighten, hydrate, and firm skin’s appearance, whilst reducing pigmentation. Climate Control is the purest form of hydration to provide much needed moisture, especially during hot days. Nangai Oil finishes my face which is truly a miracle in a bottle. If I had to pick one product, it would be this! It revitalises and deeply moisturises the skin without feeling heavy or greasy - which I hate! - and smells amazing too.
I tend to wash my hair twice a week and I coincide my hair washing with two treatments, which I take in turn. One is a face mask and the other a scrub. I love and swear by both of them. Plus, it's always nice to feel spoilt and have a spa treatment.
I use the Senegence Detoxifying and Moisturising Mask. This is truly incredible and whilst I used to use a much harsher mask, this a creamy, non-drying natural mineral and botanical-based treatment mask gently removes impurities from pores to reveal smoother and softer-looking skin. I love that I can see it being absorbed and I then take it off with my makeup eraser, which visibly removes left over dirt.
For the face mask, I have the Senegence Facial Resurfacer. Senegence actually has two face scrubs with the alternative being much gentler for daily use, however I prefer a stronger once-a-week treatment. This powerful facial buffer works to slough off dead skin cells to reveal soft, revitalised skin and moisturising.
I've also shared recently about dermaplaning, which I do once a month and you can read more about here. Finally, I finish my swiping some Senegence Lip Balm over my lips.
What's your skincare routine like? Any products you like the sound of?
