New Christmas Films for 2017!

I love watching traditional Christmas films and some movies are watched year after year. This year, I've mixed it up a bit and decided to make an effort to watch some new-to-me Christmas films as well.

I thought I would share my top new finds! With both Netflix releasing new films and Channel 5 showing on average 4 a day, there are a lot to choose from!

Film: A Fairytale Christmas
Premise: Belle spends Christmas organising the sale of a mansion and its contents. The aloof owner initially treats her with disdain but they gradually become attracted to each other.
Verdict: I love Haylie Duff so I recorded this one knowing she was in it. I was so excited to watch it and while I was slightly disappointed in the lack of sincere romance, the film resonates with the modern take on Beauty and the Beast so I had to graciously accept it for what it is.

Film: A Christmas Prince
Premise: An undercover reporter is working on a story about a handsome, eligible prince. With the Christmas Eve ball and Coronation right around the corner, it's a battle against the clock to get the scoop.
Verdict: I loved everything about this new Netflix release. Unlike most "Hallmark Christmas" style films, this one actually had some depth. Uniquely, it explored different characters and their personality deeper and I loved the relationships created and interactions between the individuals.

Film: Christmas Inheritance
Premise: Before ambitious heiress Ellen Langford can inherit her father's business, she must deliver a special Christmas card to her dad's former partner in Snow Falls. When a snowstorm strands her at the town inn, she discovers the true gift of Christmas.
Verdict: Another Netflix film and I looked into this one because of how many articles were comparing the two! When I saw it had Eliza Taylor from The 100 in, I had to watch it. I love the love triangle complications and how it has a very clear lesson and meaning to learn.

Film: Snowed-Inn Christmas

Premise: Jenna and Kevin are polar opposites, working for the same online publication in New York City. Competing against each other for their jobs, they each have to write an article in time for Christmas. Unfortunately, on their journey, a snowstorm forces their plane to land in Santa Claus, Indiana.
Verdict: With a touch of magic, I loved watching two strangers being brought together under difficult circumstances. I've enjoyed seeing Bethany Joy Lenz from One Tree Hill on my TV screen again and I thought she really outshone the rest of the cast.

Film: My Christmas Prince

Premise: Samantha returns to her hometown for Christmas, where she is joined by her boyfriend.  When she learns he is destined for the throne of Madelvia, she must decide if she loves Alex enough to stop teaching and become a royal.
Verdict: I debated including this one because let's me honest, it is very similar to the Netflix version... this version is much cheesier for sure! But I think it's fitting, especially with Prince Harry recently announcing is engagement, it's almost a parallel to the decision Megan Markle had to make.

Film: A Rose for Christmas
Premise: When a talented artist has no choice but to take the helm of her father's float-building business, she's forced to deal with a demanding businessman who doesn't have patience for art.
Verdict: I have to say, this was one of the films that really intrigued me because of the actual content of the film. I loved learning more about the process to build a float and seeing it all come together was special. It's also was hilarious! Everything that could go wrong did! Of course, it was so nice to see Rachel Boston after her short lived show Witches of East End was cancelled.

Film: A Star-Crossed Christmas
Premise: The Spruces and the Pines are rival tree farm-owning families. They have been feuding for years but when the respective heirs fall in love, they must keep their growing romance a secret or they'll risk a Christmas blow-up that could destroy everything.
Verdict: A modern take on Romeo and Juliet, this play on word namesake is such a sweet story. I love the rivalry and how it ended on such a perfect note.

So as you can probably tell, I love cheesy films and I love watching the same story over and over again. No but in all honesty, I think it's nice to live vicariously through other some time and when it comes to love, that's defintely what I am all about. Have you watched any of these? Ps. As I side note, this year's big debate was whether Harry Potter films are classed as such and I am so torn!
