My 2017 Year Recap!

I may have already uploaded my 2017 Best Nine of Instagram but let's be honest, what social media deems as popular is not necessarily the biggest moments of your life. 2017 has been a massive year for me. It's been full of ups and downs. It's been harder than I ever imagined but it's also been an incredible year of change. It's opened so many doors of possibility and given me the opportunity to explore things I never anticipated.

The start of the year was incredibly difficult. I found it harder than I ever imagined and at times I was sad but being around people and balancing my downtime defintely helped. I found great friendship with my flatmates and I loved being independent in London.

When June and July hit, I didn't know what to do with my life but I knew I would find success in some way. Failing medical school was hard to accept. Thinking about it now, I still shed a tear because it really was - and still is - a dream of mine. I'm not sure how long it will take to accept that that reality is over forever.

I am proud of the way I handled the experience though. When I found out, I researched what to do next and I made sure I got it. Not only that, but my last few weeks in London were everything I wanted them to be. I don't think I'll ever live there again so I wanted to make the most of living in the big city: West End Shows, Up at the O2, Kew Gardens ect.

The best thing to come this year was the newest edition to the family, my new nephew who is absolutely gorgeous. He is seriously the happiest baby ever and I'm besotted. Bop is still the light of my live and her personality is just hilarious. I can't wait to continue to watch them grow and journey through life.

Having said that, the biggest change is starting my new business venture: Hannah's Lips UK. It's been crazy so far but I am having so much fun. Selling makeup and cosmetic products is truly something I never thought my name would be linked to but learning about our products and sharing my love for LipSense has been amazing. I love making people, including myself, feel more comfortable in out own skin.

More importantly, it's given me the gift of great friendship. I never once imagined the possibility of gaining SheerSister's and yet I know have so many extra friends who have been so kind to me. They are always there when I need them, no matter what. I even went on my first ever business trip which was absolutely amazing!

Of course, I have ended the year on a massive high as just before Christmas I passed my driving test! I am so happy that I can now drive a car by myself and the fact that I feel confident is something I thought I would genuinely never say!

I really tried to stick to my 2017 Resolutions. While they weren't things to check of on a list, they were ideas I wanted to implement to be happier within myself. To be happier and to rush less despite challenges. To make more time for family and to help more people forced me to devote more time to others and to really live in the moment at family events, like my birthday and our Christmas meal. Finally, to allow my ankle time to heal meant pausing and recuperating properly.

I think the real goals of success came when I decided to implement the 90 day strategy with my September Goals.

Blogtember led the way to me daily blogging for 4 months straight. It pushed me to work when I could have easily laid in bed all day but it also motivated me to push my blogging platform to a new level. I reached out to companies and explored monetising my blog to make it not only a passion and hobby, but a great working environment that I'm proud to share with others.

I ended up partnering with Saal Digital to make my UCL Medicine photo album. It's full of all the memories and people who have been apart of the last 3 years of my life and I absolutely love it. It was totally worth all the time and energy it took to make it.

Of course, TV is a big part of my life which is probably really sad to say but I do love television shows, as well as films. I've managed to fit a lot into the last 3 months so it's been nice to binge watch them! To name a few: The 100, The Originals, Game of Thrones and I've just finally caught up to date with DC's Legends of Tomorrow! I also re-watched Chuck and managed to watch the whole of Pretty Little Liars.

I kept looking and searching for the perfect holiday and then Miami came out of absolutely nowhere! I'm still utterly in shock that I won the all-expenses paid trip but it was epic. Such an amazing few days and a wonderful luxury adventure. With also visiting Cape Verde in May, I can't wait to see where travelling takes me next year.

Finally, 2017 has also given me a new career path. In just a short week, I will be starting my new university course of Midwifery. I'm defintely nervous and I'm not sure what to expect but I'm incredible excited. Babies and pregnancy is a huge passion of mine and obstetrics was always my goal in life. While this isn't the path I ever pictured myself going down, it's defintely one that can offer me a rewarding career that I always imagined for myself.

Here's to a brighter and better 2018! I hope you all have the best new year. Happy New Year's Eve everyone!
