Face Masks by The Body Shop!
The Body Shop is an incredible company that I have absolutely loved over the years. For a number of years, they were my go-to shop for gifts for both friends and families. In the last few months, they have been giving customers free samples of some of their products. One of these were their face masks!
The samples came in a cute little cardboard holder which described The Body Shop image. Their mission is "to enrich our products, our people and our planet. That means working fairly with our farmers and suppliers and helping communities thrive through our Community Trade programme, being 100% vegetarian and always and forever being firmly against animal testing."
The first mask I tried was the Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask.
Description: Inspired by the rituals of Amazonian tribes, our juicy 100% vegan face mask is a bouncy blend containing acai berry, guarana and babassu oil and is formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil. This vibrant face mask exfoliates and invigorates sleepy skin to help it look wide awake.
Verdict: I was pleasantly surprised by this mask. I don't particularly like thin masks like this and I tend to do face masks at night when I'm trying to relax ready for bed. As I read the description of this mask, I decided to do this one in the morning. It defintely made me feel more awake and it does feel quite tight which I really enjoyed in the morning. I don't particularly think it's very exfoliating but it does have some slightly more abrasive particles which I also enjoyed. 6/10.
The second was British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask.
Description: Inspired by the European bathing rituals, our 100% vegan refreshing gel face mask is infused with real rose petals, rose essence, rosehip oil and organic Community Trade aloe vera. And what’s more, it’s formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil. Reveal skin that’s replenished with moisture and visibly smooth with a youthful dewy appearance.
Verdict: I really wanted to love this mask but I just didn't. It was the thinnest mask and I felt like it didn't really cover my face at all. The results were a grand total of nada. I didn't find this mask had any effect on my skin and it actually made me feel really itchy about half an hour after removing it. I hated it on and it just always felt tacky. It was probably one of the worst face mask experiences for me so it definitely didn't agree with my skin type unfortunately. 2/10.
The third was my favourite, the bestselling Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask.
Description: Inspired by Ayurvedic traditions, this 100% vegan tingling clay mask is infused with bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves and organic tea tree oil. And it’s been formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil. This invigorating charcoal face mask draws out impurities and refines the appearance of pores for healthy-looking skin with a glow that shows.
Verdict: As I already said, I absolutely loved this mask. I love clay masks in general and I found that it really worked to clean out my pores. I also really liked the gritty feel of the mask which meant as I washed it off, I used it as a face scrub as well. This was the perfect product for me and left my skin feeling soft and smooth. 9/10.
Finally, the Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask.
Description: Enriched with matcha green tea from Kakegawa, Japan, dandelion extract and soul-soothing Community Trade aloe vera from Mexico, our indulgently creamy, 100% vegan masking formula deeply purifies, gently exfoliates and liberates your skin from the weekly build-up of city pollutants and everyday impurities.
Verdict: Once again, this was quite a thin mask, especially for a moisturising mask. I used this the day after I got back from a long weekend in London and I just felt dirty. With the big city pollution, I felt it was the perfect occasion! It is surprisingly moisturising given that it's not a very thick product but not as thick as I would like. I loved how cooling it was and my skin was literally "squeaky clean" afterwards which is always nice. It's not necessarily a mask I would choose regularly but it's defintely got it's advantages when the need it there. 7/10.
I love pampering myself and I'm strong believer in R+N, so face masks are perfect. I would defintely recommend trying the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask but also make sure you select the right mask for your skin type and purpose.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak we are experiencing high demand for infection control products. WHO suggests everyone to wear face masks having earloops which can protect yourself from viruses.
